Vande Metro Train: Get ready to experience a new way to travel between cities in India! The much-anticipated Vande Metro train is expected to hit the tracks in May 2024. This intercity marvel promises a faster and more comfortable journey for passengers traveling up to 250 kilometers.
First Prototype Ready for Testing Soon
The Rail Coach Factory (RCF) is working diligently to bring the Vande Metro to life. As of now, 70% of the work on the 16 coaches that will make up the first train is complete. The first prototype is on track to be ready for testing by the end of April, paving the way for its official launch in May.
Designed for Speed and Passenger Comfort
Inspired by India's successful Vande Bharat train, the Vande Metro boasts several passenger-friendly features:
- High Speed: With a maximum speed of 130 kilometers per hour, the Vande Metro will significantly reduce travel time between cities.
- Spacious and Air-conditioned Coaches: The 16 fully air-conditioned coaches will offer ample space for passengers, with comfortable bench-type seating for 100 passengers and ample standing space for 180 more. This translates to a total capacity of 4,364 passengers per train.
- Enhanced Passenger Communication: A passenger talk-back system will be installed, allowing passengers to communicate directly with the train driver in case of emergencies.
- Safety First: Each coach will be equipped with a fire and smoke detection system with 14 sensors for added safety. Additionally, an armor system will be in place to prevent collisions.
- Accessibility for All: Wheelchair-accessible toilets will be available in the coaches, catering to the needs of differently-abled passengers.
More Vande Metro Trains to Come
This is just the beginning! The RCF plans to manufacture nine more Vande Metro trains during this financial year. With its focus on speed, comfort, and safety, the Vande Metro is poised to revolutionize intercity travel in India.
