Weather Update: Caution ! Red alert issued for THESE states; Delhi-NCR’s air quality worsens with Diwali

Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for four Indian states in the country’s north-eastern region due to Cyclone Sitrang.

The alert has been issued for Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura, suggesting severe to very heavy and extremely heavy rains.

The West Bengal administration was seen earlier today taking all necessary precautions, including the evacuation of residents and the provision of relief supplies to shelters, to prepare for potential destruction brought on by Cyclone “Sitrang.”

Delhi

Owing to Diwali, the weather in the national capital region is likely to feel a little smoky. The sky will, however, remain clear and there are no chances of rain. However, the citizens will experience a foggy and smoky day in some areas due to festivities.

Mumbai

City and its suburb will remain bright and shiny. There will be minor haze present in the day, but, overall the weather is likely to be pleasant.

Chennai

As per the latest weather update, Chennai, will have a clear sky and pleasant weather, however, there will be a major turn after a couple of days as the city will then experience heavy rains with thunderstorms.

Sharp rise in Delhi’s pollution

The Delhi-NCR area experienced a sharp rise in pollution on the day after Diwali. Fireworks were still being used far into the night in Delhi-NCR despite the ban. On Tuesday morning, as a result, the pollution index rose to 323 points. Jahangirpuri saw dangerously high levels of pollution. The air in Jahangirpuri, Delhi, is now ten times more polluted than usual, according to real-time statistics from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee. In Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, the AQI peaked at 770 about 10:30 pm.
