Weather Update: Cyclone Sitrang, which formed in the Bay of Bengal, is rapidly moving towards India. It is expected to hit the West Bengal coast on October 25. Due to this, strong winds can occur in many areas with heavy rain during Diwali.
According to a statement made by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday, the southwest monsoon has finally left India. On September 29, the southwest monsoon withdrew from Delhi after this year's rainfall was incredibly unequal.

In numerous states today, there is a chance of severe to extremely heavy rain, according to the Meteorological Department. Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh have both been placed on orange alert. However, a red warning has been issued for today in Northeast India. Many states have issued red and orange alerts. A yellow notice has also been issued in certain states at the same time.
Delhi
Like the ongoing trends, the national capital region will remain clear and there is no chance of rain despite many states getting alerts. Though, the weather will now begin to be more cold-ish with slightly foggy mornings.
Mumbai
Adding relief to the festival, the city and its suburbs will have a clear weather and will not affect festivities of any sort. There are very less to negligible chance of rains happening today in the isolated areas.

Chennai
As per the latest weather update, the city will remain moderately cloudy today. One or two areas are likely to receive a few drizzles, however, the weather will overall remain pleasant.
IMD has issued alert for these states
The states of Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands have all received weather alerts for heavy rain and strong winds. There will likely be light to moderate rain over Tamil Nadu and Kerala as well.
