Weather update: Several parts of the country are expected to experience rainfall. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the wet spell over northeast India was due to an active Western Disturbance that will be prevalent from the 23rd to the 26th of May. Heatwave conditions over isolated pockets of northwest, central & east India are also expected in the next 2-3 days.
Conditions are favorable for further advance of the southwest monsoon into some more parts of the south Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the next 3 days. A trough runs from west Bihar to Telangana and another one from North Interior Karnataka to south Tamil Nadu at lower tropospheric levels. Strong southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal to northeast India are prevailing at lower tropospheric levels. A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from 23rd May.
Delhi is expected to have a sunny day. Along with this, the national capital could also experience high humidity. The maximum weather in the capital city will shoot up to 43 degrees Celsius, while the minimum can be recorded at as low as 30 degrees Celsius.
Kolkata weather update
The maximum and minimum temperatures on Sunday are likely to be around 37°C and 29°C, respectively. It will be a cloudy and windy day in the city.
Mumbai weather update
Mumbai will experience rainfall from Sunday and will have a sunny day tomorrow. The maximum and minimum temperatures in be recorded at 33 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Chennai weather update
Chennai will have a hot and humid day. The maximum temperature in the city will rise up to 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will go down to 29 degrees Celsius.
