The release journey of Karuppu has taken an intense turn, with the makers issuing a strong warning following reports of unauthorised screenings. The high-budget film starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan has been facing multiple disruptions linked to its theatrical rollout. Amid growing confusion, the production house has now stepped in with a firm public message.

According to reports, the film experienced unexpected screening activity in select cities including Mumbai, Pune and Varanasi without proper approval from the producers. This added further complications for the team already dealing with distribution and release challenges.

Makers Take Strong Legal Stand Over Karuppu Content Misuse

The production banner Dream Warrior Pictures, led by SR Prabhu, shared an official notice on social media addressing the issue. The statement clearly warned against any unauthorised access or circulation of the film’s content.

The notice stated, “I am the legal counsel for Dream Warrior Pictures, the Production House of the Tamil feature film “Karuppu” and I issue this Public Notice under instructions from and on behalf of my cilent. My client is the Producer and copyright owner of the film Karuppu, a high-budget feature film starring Actor Suriya, Trishna Krishnan and others, directed by R.J Balaji and with music composed by Sai Abhyankkar and the film is produced with investments running into several hundreds of crores. The film carries substantial theatrical, satellite, OTT, overseas and commercial value and was scheduled for a grand worldwide theatrical release across more than 20 countries and approximately 3,000 screens worldwide.”

It further added, “The general public is therefore strictly cautioned and advised not to download, receive, access, store, circulate, forward, exhibit or share any unauthorised content relating to the film Karuppu in any form whatsoever. Any person found involved in such activities hereafter shall face immediate legal action including civil and criminal proceedings before the appropriate authorities and courts, entirely at their own risk as to costs and consequences.”

Why Was Karuppu Release Delayed

Industry sources suggest that financial and logistical issues played a key role in delays and uncertainty around the film’s release process. Reports also hint at complications in screening coordination across theatres, adding pressure on distributors.

The film, mounted on a massive budget of around Rs 140 crore, is one of the most ambitious projects in recent Tamil cinema.

Karuppu features Suriya in a powerful dual-shaded role inspired by justice and the folk deity Karuppasamy. Trisha Krishnan plays the female lead, marking her reunion with Suriya after several years.

Launching a blistering attack on the BJP-led Central Government, senior AAP leader and Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that states ruled by the BJP for long periods have witnessed a dangerous rise in crime, gangsterism and breakdown of law and order. Citing National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, the minister emphasised that the figures expose the “true face” of BJP governance, where hatred, fear and violence are being used as political tools to capture and retain power.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Harpal Singh Cheema said, “Delhi, where the BJP recently grabbed power through misuse of agencies and the Delhi Police, tops the country’s crime chart with a crime rate of 1602 per one lakh population. Gujarat, where the BJP has ruled for nearly 30 years, has a crime rate of 806, Haryana stands at 739.2, Manipur at 627.8, Madhya Pradesh at 570.3, Maharashtra at 470.4, Odisha at 431.2, Rajasthan at 390.4 and Chandigarh at 338.9. In contrast, Punjab’s crime rate is much lower at 227.1, clearly proving that the Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government has successfully controlled crime and gangster networks.”

The Cabinet Minister stated, “Wherever the BJP goes, law and order collapses. BJP spreads hatred, divides people and creates an atmosphere of fear to gain political power. That is why crime is rising rapidly across the country.”

Referring to the recent daylight murder of an 18 year old boy in Chandigarh, Harpal Singh Cheema remarked, “This incident reflects the complete failure of the BJP controlled administration. Chandigarh was once known as the City Beautiful, but today it is becoming known for crime because the BJP has destroyed the law and order system there. Since Chandigarh directly falls under the Union Home Ministry, the BJP cannot escape responsibility for the deteriorating situation.”

Raising the issue of gangster networks, he asserted, “BJP governments are encouraging gangsterism and anti national elements across the country. Notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is lodged in a Gujarat jail, a state ruled by the BJP for decades, and despite being wanted by multiple state police forces for investigation, restrictions are imposed on his custody transfer. Gangsters are operating networks, issuing threats and running extortion rackets from Gujarat jails while the BJP government looks the other way.”

Praising the Bhagwant Mann Government’s efforts, Harpal Singh Cheema said, “CM Bhagwant Mann has taken historic steps to crush organised crime by launching a dedicated Anti Gangster Task Force and ensuring that major gangsters are sent behind bars. Punjab suffered badly under previous Akali Dal BJP and Congress governments, where incidents of target killings, gangster glorification and political violence had become common.”

Concluding the press conference, he stated, “BJP is using fear, agencies and violence not only against opposition ruled states but against anyone who refuses to bow before them. The anti Punjab and anti democracy face of BJP is now fully exposed before the country.”

In a major initiative aimed at rehabilitating Agniveers returning to Punjab after completing their tenure under the Agnipath scheme, the Punjab Government on Tuesday decided to formulate a reservation policy for them in government jobs. CM Bhagwant Singh Mann constituted a high-powered committee of senior civil and police officers to finalise the modalities and framework for extending reservation benefits to Agniveers in state government services.

Chairing a high-level meeting here, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann gave in-principle approval to extend reservation to Agniveers in government jobs and said the policy framework should be finalised in a time-bound manner so that these trained and disciplined youth can become an integral part of Punjab’s social and economic development.

On this, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “The basic contours of the reservation policy need to be worked out in a comprehensive manner so that Agniveers returning after serving the nation can be meaningfully rehabilitated and their skills can be utilised for the progress of Punjab.”

The Chief Minister constituted a committee comprising senior officers Vikas Partap, Bhawna Garg, Sumer Singh Gurjar and SS Srivastva to prepare recommendations and finalise the modalities regarding reservation and recruitment of Agniveers in various departments.

Highlighting the capabilities of Agniveers, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said their services can be effectively utilised in departments such as Punjab Police, Forest Guards, Fire Fighting Services, Jails, Home Guards, PESCO and several other wings of the government. “The criteria regarding reservation and selection of Agniveers should be finalised at the earliest so that the services of these highly skilled and disciplined youth can be utilised in the best possible manner,” he said.

The Chief Minister further said Punjab has always played a historic role in safeguarding the unity and integrity of the country. “It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that besides being the food bowl of the country, Punjab is also known as the sword arm of the nation. The people of Punjab are recognised across the world for their courage, resilience and spirit of enterprise,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann added.

Recognising the immense contribution made by personnel of the Armed Forces, paramilitary forces, Police and Agniveers in protecting the nation, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Punjab Government already provides financial assistance of ₹1 crore to families of martyrs who lay down their lives in the line of duty.

“This reflects the firm commitment of the Punjab Government towards ensuring the welfare of soldiers, paramilitary personnel, police personnel and their families,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, while expressing hope that the initiative would help secure the future of Agniveers and provide support to their families after their service to the nation.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday asserted that the Punjab Government would erase the “blot of drugs” from the state at any cost, saying the ongoing Yudh Nashean Virudh campaign has already delivered a major blow to the narcotics network with over 63,707 drug smugglers arrested in 437 days and illegal properties built through drug money being demolished across Punjab.

Addressing an anti-drug awareness programme dedicated to the 38th Gurugaddi Divas of Sant Trilochan Das Ji Maharaj in Batala, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the fight against drugs and organised crime had now become a people’s movement, with every Punjabi standing shoulder to shoulder with the Punjab Government.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the simultaneous crackdown under the 112-day Gangstran Te Vaar campaign, ongoing welfare measures for women and healthcare, and credited the strict anti-beadbi law enacted by the Punjab Government for bringing an end to incidents of beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in the state.

Addressing the gathering, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The Punjab Government launched Yudh Nashean Virudh more than 400 days ago and this campaign has achieved resounding success. We have cracked the backbone of the drug trade and the big fishes involved in this crime have been put behind bars. This crackdown against drugs will continue with full force until this menace is completely wiped out from Punjab.”

He stated that under the campaign, the Punjab Government had not only snapped the supply lines of drugs but had also ensured rehabilitation of victims while demolishing and confiscating properties of smugglers. “If Punjabis make a firm resolve to make Punjab drug-free, then no force can stop us from achieving this noble mission. I seek the wholehearted support and cooperation of people to turn this fight into a people’s movement,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said.

Highlighting Punjab’s spiritual legacy, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Every inch of this sacred land carries the footprints of great Gurus, saints, seers and martyrs who taught us to stand against tyranny, injustice and oppression. Inspired by their teachings, the Punjab Government launched this crusade against drugs and the results are now visible on the ground. The day is not far when Punjab will become completely drug-free.”

The Chief Minister stated Punjab has always been recognised as the food bowl and sword arm of the nation, with its people known worldwide for courage, resilience and enterprise. “Previous governments neglected Punjab’s development, which disillusioned the youth and forced many to leave the state. Today, the Punjab Government is making every effort to restore the pristine glory of a ‘Rangla Punjab’,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann added.

Emphasising welfare-oriented governance, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The tax money of people belongs to the people and we are spending it judiciously on their welfare. Today, people’s money is being invested in schools, hospitals, roads and infrastructure instead of corruption and loot.”

He said that the Punjab Government had provided free electricity to 90% of households and given more than 65,000 government jobs without corruption. “We have improved roads, shut toll plazas saving people around ₹70 lakh daily and strengthened infrastructure across Punjab. For the first time in Punjab’s history, farmers received more than eight hours of uninterrupted power supply during the paddy season and daytime electricity for irrigation, which has transformed their lives,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said.

Speaking about healthcare reforms, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, health cards are being issued to all 65 lakh families in Punjab. Every family is entitled to free treatment up to ₹10 lakh.” He stated that more than 30 lakh beneficiaries had already received health cards while 1.65 lakh people had availed free treatment under the scheme. “I urge people to take maximum benefit from these cards,” he added.

On women empowerment, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The Punjab Government has started the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna under which every woman will receive ₹1,000 per month while women belonging to Scheduled Castes will receive ₹1,500 per month.” He said the amount would be transferred directly into bank accounts and women already receiving social security pensions would also remain eligible. “Around 97% women in Punjab are expected to benefit from this scheme and the Punjab Government has allocated ₹9,300 crore for it in the budget,” he added.

Referring to the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act 2026, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “It is the Almighty’s blessing that I have got the opportunity to serve humanity by enacting this historic law which provides stricter punishment for sacrilege. This Act will ensure that such unfortunate incidents are prevented in the future.”

He asserted that sacrilege incidents were part of a deep-rooted conspiracy aimed at disturbing peace, communal harmony and brotherhood in Punjab. “Anyone found guilty of this unpardonable offence will face exemplary punishment. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is like a father to every Sikh and it is our sacred duty to preserve its sanctity,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, adding that Sikhs across the world were expressing gratitude over the legislation.

The Chief Minister further stated, “I am nobody to pass this Act. This service has been taken from me by Guru Sahib himself. God assigns such service only to those chosen for it and I am merely a humble servant entrusted with this responsibility.” He added that people from all sections of society had long demanded stricter laws against desecration.

Quoting Gurbani, “Pawan Guru, Paani Pitaah, Mata Dharat Mahat,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the great Gurus had taught humanity centuries ago to respect nature and live harmoniously. “Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is our living Guru and every Punjabi, especially Sikhs, follows and respects every word enshrined in it,” he said.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann further said, “Punjab’s soil is so fertile that everything can grow here except hatred and animosity. This sacred land of Gurus, saints and seers has always spread the message of love, peace and tolerance. Several attempts were made to weaken Punjab’s communal harmony, but all such conspiracies failed because this land is blessed.”

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday underscored the need for deeper Civil Military Synergy in Punjab during a meeting with Western Command Army Commander Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, with both sides agreeing to strengthen coordination on border management, internal security, disaster response, and operational preparedness in the strategically important border state. The meeting, held in Chandigarh, also focused on expediting ongoing projects in border areas and evolving a coordinated framework to tackle emerging security and humanitarian challenges.

During the maiden meeting between the Army Commander and the Chief Minister since Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh assumed command of the Western Army, detailed discussions were held on several issues of national importance. Both sides agreed that utmost priority would be accorded to completing all ongoing projects in border areas to further enhance operational capability and strengthen national security infrastructure.

Emphasising Punjab’s strategic significance, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Punjab is a border state with around 550 kilometres of international border, and therefore further strengthening Civil Military Synergy in the region is extremely important.” He stressed the need to enhance confidence and trust through coordinated policymaking and stronger internal security mechanisms.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of evolving a mutual and foolproof strategy to effectively respond to natural disasters, external threats, and other crises. He affirmed that close cooperation between civil administration and the armed forces was essential for safeguarding national interests and ensuring swift response during emergencies.

The meeting also witnessed detailed deliberations on issues related to border management, internal security, youth empowerment, rehabilitation of Agniveers, and important land acquisition cases linked to operational preparedness. Discussions were also held regarding disaster management, recruitment in the Armed Forces, and welfare initiatives including housing projects for serving Army personnel and veterans.

Reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment to supporting the armed forces, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann assured Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh of the state’s full cooperation for every initiative undertaken by the Indian Army in service of the nation.

Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, Brigadier Sameer Thakkar, VSM, Colonel Jasdeep Sandhu, Advisor Civil Military Affairs of HQ Western Command, along with other senior officials, were also present during the meeting.

According to him, the issue is not always about eating outside food. In many cases, people simply do not know what their ideal body weight should be.

The doctor used a simple example to explain the problem. He compared the human body to a car tyre. If a tyre has more air than needed, the vehicle becomes unstable. Similarly, when body weight increases beyond the healthy range, fat slowly starts building up inside the body and the liver.

Fatty Liver And The Simple Weight Formula

Doctor SK Sarin shared an easy formula to help people understand whether their body weight is healthy or not.

Here’s the formula:

  • Height (in cm) minus 100 = ideal weight for men
  • Height (in cm) minus 105 = ideal weight for women

For example:

  • A man with a height of 160 cm should ideally weigh around 60 kg
  • A woman of the same height should weigh around 55 kg

The doctor also added that if there is a family history of diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, heart disease, or cancer, then keeping body weight 5 kg lower may be even better.

According to him, maintaining this balance can help reduce the risk of fatty liver and other lifestyle diseases.

Why Fatty Liver Is Becoming Common

The doctor explained that many people are unaware of their correct weight range. Because of this, fat slowly accumulates in the liver over time.

He described the liver as the “chartered accountant” of the body because it stores extra calories when people overeat. If someone eats heavily for a few days, especially during parties or celebrations, the liver stores the excess fat in the body’s fat tissues.

Over time, this can lead to weight gain and fatty liver. The doctor stressed that gaining weight is easy, but losing it later becomes much harder.

To lower the risk of fatty liver, experts recommend:

  • Maintaining a healthy body weight
  • Eating balanced meals in proper portions
