Under AAP Govt, Punjab Schools become No. 1 in education, tops National Achievement Survey & even surpasses Kerala: CM Bhagwant Singh Mann

CM Bhagwant Mann

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday presented a detailed four-year report card of the Punjab Government’s “Shiksha Kranti” under the “Shandaar Char Saal Bhagwant Mann de naal” series, laying out how sustained reforms have transformed government schools into competitive, outcome-driven institutions delivering national-leading results. Positioning ‘Shikhya Kranti’ as the backbone of Punjab’s growth story, the Chief Minister highlighted top rankings in national assessments, record academic outcomes, zero paper leaks, and unprecedented investment in infrastructure and teacher training.

The Chief Minister underscored that this transformation has been backed by a sharp rise in financial commitment, with the education budget increasing from ₹12,657 crore in 2021–22 to ₹19,279 crore in 2026–27, reflecting the AAP government’s sustained prioritisation of the sector. The Chief Minister noted that this education report card comes as part of a broader accountability exercise, following similar four-year performance presentations in key sectors such as irrigation, health, sports, and law and order, reflecting the government’s focus on measurable delivery across governance.

Addressing a press conference, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann outlined a wide-ranging overhaul of school and higher education, highlighting structural reforms, record investments, and measurable outcomes achieved over the past four years. “Countries that prioritised education have progressed in every field. In our country, education was divided between private and government schools, creating a deep divide. Previous regimes reduced schools to centres for mid day meals, but our government has transformed the entire system,” he stated.

The Chief Minister added, “Government schools have now been developed at par with private schools, giving parents a genuine choice. From April 1, parents will be informed about their child’s absence from school and even about teachers’ leave, ensuring accountability at every level. Unlike several other states, especially Gujarat, not a single paper leak has occurred in Punjab in the last four years, which is a matter of immense pride.”

Emphasising the centrality of education in governance, the Chief Minister noted, “Education contributes the most to the progress and prosperity of any state or country. Over the past four years, we have given it the highest priority. Earlier, under the name of ‘Smart Schools’, people and innocent children were misled. Schools were merely painted and beautified without proper facilities or teachers. Today, government schools in Punjab stand at par with private institutions, and our education model is being discussed across the country.”

Highlighting financial commitment, he said, “A budget of ₹19,279 crore has been allocated for the financial year 2026–27, which is 7% higher than last year. We are launching the second phase of the Education Revolution with ₹3,500 crore, with the World Bank as our partner, making it the largest education reform program.”

Listing key achievements, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “Punjab secured the top position in the National Achievement Survey 2024, surpassing even Kerala, while Gujarat ranked 16th and Haryana around 7th or 8th. This achievement belongs to our government school teachers and students.”

He added, “In recent years, 740 students have cleared JEE and 1,284 have cleared NEET. Government school students scored 18% higher than the national average in the survey.”

Detailing institutional expansion, the Chief Minister noted, “118 Schools of Eminence are being established, of which 60 are already operational. These schools are helping talented students fulfil their dreams by offering education aligned with their abilities and interests. For the first time, 24 lakh parents have participated in mega PTMs.”

He further said, “Free uniforms have been provided to 30,000 students in these schools, and all streams, including Medical and Non-Medical, are available. Coaching for exams like Armed Forces Preparatory, NEET, JEE, and CLAT is also being provided.”

Focusing on inclusivity, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Free bus services have been started for girls in Schools of Eminence and government schools so that no girl is deprived of education. Around 15,500 students are benefiting.”

He added, “Since April 2022, 14,525 teachers have been recruited and services of 12,316 education department employees have been regularised. We are also ensuring world-class training for principals and teachers.”

Elaborating on capacity building, he stated, “Eight batches have been sent to Singapore for training, and 264 education officers, principals, and teachers have benefited. Three batches of 216 primary teachers were trained in Turku, Finland. Five batches were sent to IIM Ahmedabad, where 249 headmasters underwent leadership training. A science teacher, Gagandeep Kaur from Government Senior Secondary School, Sainsra Kalan in Amritsar, participated in a two-month program at California State University, USA, reflecting the dedication and capability of our teachers.”

On infrastructure and safety, the Chief Minister said, “We are ensuring proper maintenance and safety in government schools. A total of 1,932 campus managers, 1,323 security guards, 7,876 sanitation workers, and 1,792 watchmen have been recruited. High-speed fiber Wi-Fi has been provided in all government schools with a budget of ₹20 crore, making Punjab the only state to achieve this.”

He added, “Classrooms, science labs, computer labs, multipurpose rooms, kitchens, medical rooms, head rooms, playgrounds, and separate toilets for boys and girls have been constructed. Students now receive books on time, and free uniforms are being provided. Additionally, 25 government schools have been named after martyrs, freedom fighters, and eminent personalities.”

Highlighting innovation, he said, “The Business Blaster scheme has been launched to promote entrepreneurial thinking among students, who have collectively generated ₹70 crore through their ideas. Punjab is the first state to introduce Entrepreneurship as a subject in Class 11. Our aim is to create job creators, not job seekers.”

On mentorship and cultural education, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann noted, “The School Mentorship Program has been introduced for the first time, where IAS, IPS, and senior officers guide students. To commemorate the 350th Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, a 15-day program was organised to educate students about his life and sacrifice.”

Turning to higher education reforms, he stated, “Punjab has introduced the country’s first Digital Open University Policy-2026. A world-class university will be established at Sri Anandpur Sahib in the name of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, has implemented the Punjabi-First Policy to improve access for rural students, and an online admission portal has been launched for government degree colleges to ensure transparency. Ten new degree colleges are planned, and construction of a college at Bikraur in Ajnala is underway.”

Reinforcing linguistic and cultural initiatives, he added, “Under the Punjab Language Act, Punjabi has been made 100% mandatory for official work. Digitisation of Punjabi literature is underway, with 18,550 books digitised so far. Additionally, 592 rare manuscripts have been preserved and digitised, and over 100 books are now available online.”

He further said, “The ‘Shabdmala E-Dictionary’ has been launched as an Android app with multiple Punjabi lexicons. Portraits of 60 eminent Punjabi literary personalities have been displayed at Punjab Bhawan in New Delhi, and awards have been distributed for the best books in Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu.”

Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains and others were also present on the occasion.

Haryana News: Free bus services from Mahendragarh to Khatu Shyam have been launched by the Shri Shyam Sanatan Seva Mandal on every Gyaras (eleventh day of the lunar cycle). The bus service was launched in the temple premises with a ribbon-cutting and formal worship ceremony.

Haryana News-Primary Objective Of The Initiative

Vikram Thanedaar, the President of Shri Shyam Sanatan Mandal, and Satyaveer Malda remarked that the free bus services from Mahendragarh to Khatu Shyam started with the worship of Shri Khatu Shyam. Interested individuals may approach the Shri Shyam Sanatan Mandal to reserve their free seats.

They further remarked that the initiative would help devotees who cannot visit Khatu Shyamji due to financial or other reasons. Now, devotees from Mahendragarh and adjoining areas could visit Shri Khatu Dham and have darshan without any charges. It was further added that the count of buses may be increased in the near future, if required. The initiative has generated special enthusiasm among the area’s devotees.

Benefits To The Community

The free bus initiative would help small farmers, daily wage earners and low-income households in rural Haryana. Beyond devotion, the bus service could create a series of direct as well as indirect jobs. For instance, drivers, conductors and maintenance staff would be hired by the Shri Shyam Sanatan Seva Mandal. Furthermore, it would create demand for support roles like bus cleaners, ticket helpers (if expanded) and roadside vendors selling prasad, water and other accessories.

As thousands more devotees visit the Khatu Dham, it would also increase the income of dhabas, small hotels and guest houses in Mahendragarh and Khatu Dham. Also, families running eateries may increase their level of operations, hiring extra servers, cooks and helpers to serve chai, thalis and Shyam-themed snacks. The influx would help in promoting regional tourism, turning quiet villages into vibrant hubs and lifting household incomes year-round.

Diabetes Management: Say Goodbye To Blood Sugar Swings! Nutrition Coach Shares Glucose Control Tips

Diabetes Management

Diabetes Management: If you or anyone close to you has been suffering from diabetes, you must have realized by now that the health condition is not just about avoiding sugar but also about creating a healthy balance. No wonder, health experts across the world suggest that diabetics should focus on stabilizing blood sugar levels through mindful, consistent habits instead of extreme restrictions.

In a recently shared video on Instagram, a leading nutrition coach talks about the best and free ways to manage diabetes naturally.

Diabetes Management-The Power of a Post-Meal Walk

One of the most neglected tools for blood sugar control is a post-meal walk. Taking a brisk 10-20 minute walk after your meals could be highly useful to reduce post-meal glucose spikes. This is primarily because your muscles start utilizing glucose for energy when you walk.

This helps in clearing sugar from your bloodstream in a more efficient and effective way. Furthermore, it helps you reduce the burden on insulin while preventing those sharp blood sugar spikes that may cause fatigue and cravings.

The Apple Cider Vinegar Advantage

In recent years, Apple cider vinegar (ACV) has gained attention for its role in blood sugar management. Taking diluted ACV twice a day, preferably before meals, could help in improving insulin sensitivity. Moreover, it could help in slowing down the digestion of carbohydrates. This would mean that glucose could easily enter the bloodstream more gradually, preventing sudden spikes.

If the taste of ACV is too strong for you, a pinch of cinnamon or a few drops of lemon juice may be good choices. Under no circumstances, you should consume ACV undiluted as it may irritate your throat and damage tooth enamel.

Intermittent Fasting with a Low-Carb Approach

Ideally, you should pair intermittent fasting with a low-carb diet. The intake of low carbs reduces the amount of glucose entering the system, which makes it easier to maintain stable blood sugar levels. For beginners, a 12:12 or 14:10 fasting schedule is a safe starting point. This means fasting for 12–14 hours and eating within a 10–12 hour window.

  • You should include a variety of fibre sources such as green leafy vegetables, seeds like chia and flax, whole legumes and cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, kale, bok choy and arugula.
  • Ideally, you should engage in Soleus Raises. For this, you would need to sit with your feet flat on the ground and repeatedly lift your heels while keeping your toes planted. This activates the soleus muscle, which can use glucose directly from the bloodstream for extended periods without fatigue.

Liver Damage: Is Your Liver Crying For Help? 7 Red Flags You Should Never Ignore

Liver Damage

Liver Damage: The human liver, which is one of the most important and hard-working organs in the body, performs more than 500 essential functions, including hormone regulation, detoxification, nutrient metabolism and production of critical proteins. However, several factors such as environmental toxins, alcohol use, poor dietary habits, chronic stress and sedentary lifestyles could gradually impair liver function over time.

One of the most worrying things about liver damage is that it often develops silently. However, the body does offer early warning signs that may be subtle at first but become increasingly noticeable as dysfunction progresses.

Liver Damage-Spot These 7 Warning Signs Before It’s Too Late

1. Heaviness or Pain on the Right Side

One of the earliest signs of liver damage or stress could be discomfort, pain, heaviness or dull ache in the upper right abdomen.

2. Spider Veins or Red Dots on the Skin

Small-spider like blood vessels may start becoming visible on the skin (usually on the neck, face or chest), suggesting liver dysfunction. Also known as spider angiomas, they may be associated with hormonal imbalances, particularly elevated estrogen levels.

3. Dark Urine and Pale Stools

Changes in stool or urine colour may signal issue with the production and flow of bile in the body. Pale or clay-coloured stool may indicate a lack of bile reaching the intestines while dark urine may indicate excess bilirubin in the bloodstream.

4. Yellowing of Eyes or Skin (Jaundice)

One of the first and easily recognizable signs of liver impairment is jaundice. In this health condition, the body starts building up bilirubin (a yellow pigment produced during red blood cell breakdown) in the blood.

5. Belly Swelling and Fluid Retention

Abdominal swelling or bloating, especially when accompanied by fluid retention may indicate advanced liver dysfunction.

6. Unexplained Itchy Skin

Persistent itching without a clear dermatological cause can be linked to liver health. When bile salts accumulate under the skin due to impaired bile flow, they can trigger irritation and itching.

7. Fatigue, Hair Loss and Hormonal Imbalance

Poor health of liver may cause hair loss or thinning, low libido, mood fluctuations or irregular menstrual cycles.

How to Improve Liver Health?

  • Consume 1-2 cups of black coffee without sugar and milk every day. This would help in reducing liver fat while also lowering the risk of liver fibrosis.
  • Include omega-3 fatty acids (that are rich in anti-inflammatory properties) through chia seeds, walnuts, Flaxseeds and fatty fish like salmon or sardines.
  • Include lentils, legumes, garlic, onions, leafy greens, and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cabbage.
  • Engage yourself in daily movement such as walking, stretching or light cardio and at least 3–4 strength training sessions per week.

Telangana News: Senior Citizen Dignity Bill Passed Unanimously! Is Forced Maintenance The Right Fix?

Telangana News

Telangana News: The Telangana State Assembly has unanimously approved the Senior Citizen Dignity and Maintenance Bill in a significant move for senior citizens across the state. Passage of the bill signalled a rare moment of cross-party consensus on social welfare. However, many have questioned the practical effectiveness of a forced maintenance system and if it would truly address the multifaceted challenges faced by the elderly.

Telangana News-A Landmark Decision

The bill mandates that government employees, private employees and public representatives should care for their elderly parents. Any failure to comply would result in a deduction of 15 percent of the salary or Rs. 10,000, which is lower, payable to the parents.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy cited the example of businessman Vijaypat Singhania who had transferred all his assets to Gautam Singhania, only to be later turned out.

BJP MLA Payal Shankar said his party would support the bill and added that the amount specified should be increased. The bill was also supported by CPI member K Sambasiva Rao and his party.

Practical Challenges And Limitations

Despite the promises, forced maintenance laws rarely work as they face a series of enforcement difficulties. For instance, many elderly people hesitate to approach tribunals because of fear of family conflict, bad blood within the family, social stigma or a lack of awareness of their legal rights. Also, legal processes in India are often extremely slow and/or corrupt, leaving vulnerable seniors without timely support.

Also, the bill does not have any provision if the children are struggling financially themselves, especially in regions with uneven economic development, which can complicate the bill’s enforcement. If this is not all, a forced maintenance system may ensure that a certain amount of money is passed on the elderly but it could not guarantee companionship, healthcare attention or the emotional dignity that is central to elder well-being.

Chintada Ravindra is reported to be a naval technician posted in Visakhapatnam. Described by neighbours as a quiet and reserved individual, he was living with his wife in the Gajuwaka area. However, behind this seemingly ordinary life, Ravindra had been involved in a relationship with a woman identified as Polipalli Mounika for several years. Investigators believe the relationship had become strained in recent months, setting the stage for what would become one of the most disturbing crimes in the city.

Why Did Chintada Ravindra Murder His Lover?

According to preliminary police findings, tensions between Ravindra and Polipalli Mounika had escalated over financial disputes and personal pressure. Reports suggest that Mounika had borrowed a significant amount of money and was allegedly threatening to reveal their relationship to his family.

What may have started as an argument quickly spiralled out of control. Authorities suspect that in a moment of rage and fear, Ravindra killed her. While the exact sequence of events is still under investigation, officials indicate that the motive appears to be a mix of emotional conflict, financial stress, and fear of exposure.

What Happened After the Murder?

What followed has shocked even seasoned investigators. Police allege that Ravindra attempted to cover up the crime in a gruesome manner. The body was reportedly dismembered, with parts stored inside a refrigerator, while others were hidden or disposed of in different locations.

In an unexpected twist, Ravindra later approached the police and confessed to the crime. His admission led authorities to his residence, where they recovered remains and began a detailed forensic investigation. Search operations are still ongoing to locate missing parts and reconstruct the full sequence of events.

In a recent video shared on Instagram, a top endocrinologist shares her observations with Samantha Ruth Prabhu, a leading Telugu and Tamil actress.

Brain Fog-What Is It About?

Brain Fog could be referred to be as a persistent sense of mental cloudiness – forgetfulness, slowed thinking, difficulty concentrating or an inability to process information quickly and clearly.

For starters, brain fog is not a standalone health condition but a symptom that something in the body’s internal environment is out of balance. At its core, brain fog usually stems from three primary physiological disturbances:

  • Low availability of cellular energy
  • Impaired functioning of neurotransmitters
  • Inflammation in the brain

How Targeted Nutritional Interventions Work?

Mental Fog could be treated with specific compounds and nutrients that directly address energy production, neural repair and inflammation.

1. Ghee with Turmeric Root

Ghee, a clarified form of butter, could provide high-quality saturated fats to support neuronal membrane stability. These fats could demonstrate unmatched efficacy to improve the function and fluidity of brain cells, enhancing signal transmission. On the other hand, turmeric root that includes curcumin (a powerful anti-inflammatory compound) could help treat reduced clarity and slower thinking.

2. Lion’s Mane Mushroom

In recent years, Lion’s Mane Mushroom has gained prominence in the segment of cognitive health, and for good and obvious reasons. It includes potent bioactive compounds that stimulate the production of nerve growth factor (NGF). Interestingly, NGF is beneficial for the growth and maintenance of neurons, memory formation and recall and synaptic plasticity (the brain’s ability to adapt and learn).

Lion’s Mane Mushroom is an excellent choice to treat post-illness brain fog, long-term cognitive failure and stress-induced memory issues.

3. Creatine Monohydrate

Cognitive functions such as memory, decision-making and focus depend on adequate levels of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) production, which is the body’s energy powerhouse. Creatine Monohydrate enhances ATP availability, especially in tissues with high energy demands, including the human brain. Therefore, its use could be of great help to individuals with sleep deprivation, mental burnout, chronic stress or vegetarian or low-protein diets.
