Ghooskhor Pandat Controversy: ‘Such People Have No Right To…’ FWICE Boycotts Film, Declares No Co-operation With Makers Of Manoj Bajpayee Starrer

Ghooskhor Pandat controversy has taken a serious turn, with India’s powerful film workers’ body openly opposing the Manoj Bajpayee-starrer. What started as criticism over the film’s title has now grown into a major industry backlash, street protests and police action.

FWICE Boycotts Ghooskhor Pandat

On Saturday, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) announced that it would not cooperate with the makers of the film. FWICE President BN Tiwari strongly objected to the use of the word “Pandit” in the title and said strict action must be taken. As one of the largest film workers’ unions in India, FWICE’s stand has sent a strong signal across the industry.

Speaking to ANI, Tiwari also demanded action against Netflix, which is set to stream the film. “I have a serious objection to the use of the word Pandat in this title. No matter whose surname it is, we make films for the entertainment of the people. I strongly oppose producers and directors who insult any community. Such people have no right to make films. Those who play with the sentiments of people, whether they are producers, Netflix, or any other platform that streams such films, should be banned, and action should be taken against them,” said BN Tiwari.

He added that times have changed and filmmakers can no longer ignore public sentiment. He added, “Times have changed. Earlier, when such films were released, there was no social media, and even if viewers were hurt, their voices were not widely heard. That will not work anymore. We won’t tolerate it now. Whoever, producer or director, may be, we will completely refuse to cooperate with them.”

Why The Title Of Manoj Bajpayee Triggered Protests

The Ghooskhor Pandat controversy centres on the word “ghooskhor,” which means someone who takes bribes, being used alongside “Pandat” – a term commonly associated with the Brahmin community. Several Brahmin organisations said the title stereotypes and insults their community.

Soon after the film was announced, protests erupted in multiple states. Demonstrators accused the makers of deliberately targeting a particular caste and hurting religious and social sentiments. The protests intensified on Friday when an FIR was registered in Lucknow on the directive of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The complaint alleges that the film hurts caste sentiments and disturbs social harmony.

In some areas, protesters burned effigies of actor Manoj Bajpayee and producer Neeraj Pandey. They also warned of stronger protests if the film’s title is not changed.

After the backlash, Producer Neeraj Pandey released a clarification, stating that the film is not intended to target or insult any community. The makers removed all promotional material (including the first-look teaser) from public platforms.

Ghooskhor Pandit stars Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role and marks the directorial debut of writer Ritesh Shah. The film was scheduled for release on Netflix later this year. However, with FWICE’s boycott, ongoing protests and legal action underway, the future of the project now appears uncertain.

Propose Day 2026 Isn’t the Green Signal Couples Think It Is, Relationship Experts Warn – Check!

Propose Day 2026
Created with Gemini

Propose Day 2026, which is being celebrated on 8 February, is one of the most anticipated days in Valentine Week. Many couples see it as the perfect chance to take their relationship to the next level. But relationship experts caution that using this symbolic day as a green signal to propose may not always be the wisest choice.

Instead, they stress the importance of timing, communication and understanding your partner’s feelings before making such a significant decision.

Propose Day 2026: Why Personal Meaning Matters More Than The Date

Relationship coaches and psychologists agree that the exact timing of a proposal matters far more than simply picking a popular day like Propose Day or Valentine’s Day. Experts explain, “Proposing on a holiday or special occasion can make the moment feel predictable or influenced by societal expectations rather than a genuine connection.”

Proposals tied too closely to commercialised dates can sometimes feel less authentic. With Valentine’s week associated with flowers, chocolates and grand gestures, some partners may wonder whether the proposal is motivated by true commitment or just the occasion itself.

Experts suggest that choosing a date with personal significance often adds far more emotional value and makes the moment truly memorable.

Talk First, Then Propose

Communication is key before popping the question. Experts emphasise that proposal planning isn’t just about the surprise. It’s about ensuring both partners are emotionally ready for marriage. Honest conversations about future goals and commitment should happen long before anyone gets down on one knee.

Research shows that proposals are more successful when couples have already shared their views on marriage, long-term goals and emotional expectations. A sudden proposal, even on a celebrated day like Propose Day 2026, can create unnecessary pressure or confusion.

Additionally, experts recommend private and personal proposals over public spectacles. A quiet conversation at home, a scenic walk or a meaningful getaway allows both partners to express emotions freely, away from social media, onlookers or staged expectations.

Ultimately, relationship specialists agree – why you propose matters more than when. A proposal rooted in mutual understanding, emotional readiness and personal significance is far more likely to be cherished than one tied to a calendar date. Even on Propose Day 2026, couples are advised not to rush, but to focus on shared values, clear communication and genuine connection.

Punjab News

The Punjab School Education Department on Saturday organised the second Statewide School-Level Parents’ Workshop across all government schools, engaging over 17.5 akh parents in an unprecedented exercise in community participation.

Sharing details of the initiative, Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said, “The Punjab School Education Department organised the second Statewide School-Level Parents’ Workshop, engaging over 17.50 lakh parents across all government schools.”

The Punjab Education Minister pointed out the mega initiative, spearheaded by the State Council of Educational Research and Training, had set a new benchmark for parental involvement in the state’s education system and reflected the commitment of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government towards collaborative learning. “This initiative reinforces our resolve to further elevate education standards under Punjab Sikhya Kranti by making parents active partners in the learning journey,” he said.

Minister Harjot Singh Bains led a workshop at Government High School, Manakpur (Nangal), in the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency, where he interacted with parents and students. Explaining the objectives, S. Harjot Singh Bains said, “The workshop aims to empower parents with practical strategies for stress-free exam preparation, help them build children’s confidence through positive reinforcement, and raise awareness on drug abuse prevention under Punjab’s Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign, with a focus on early detection, prevention and support.”

He further said that several senior leaders participated across the state to strengthen the outreach. “Cabinet Ministers including Dr. Baljit Kaur, Lalchand Kataruchak, Tarunpreet Singh Sond and Hardeep Singh Mundian, along with over 40 MLAs, joined the workshops in their respective constituencies, demonstrating a unified political commitment to support and strengthen the education system while promoting community engagement,” he said.

Referring to the continuity of the initiative, Minister Harjot Singh Bains said, “Building on the resounding success of the first workshop conducted in December 2025, today’s event has further solidified a powerful partnership between schools and students’ families, empowering parents with insights into their children’s academic progress and ways to support learning at home.”

Detailing the administrative preparation behind the exercise, he said, “To ensure the success of the workshop, the School Education Department deployed over 3,000 senior officers, including Directors and DEOs, to monitor and support the programme. Around 40,000 teachers were trained in advance to facilitate the parent workshops, ensuring flawless execution and meaningful impact.”

Highlighting the larger vision behind the initiative, Minister Harjot Singh Bains said, “This workshop is a cornerstone of our mission to build strong school-parent collaboration, create a supportive home environment, and ensure academic success along with holistic well-being for every child.”

A High-Impact Governance Initiative Driven by Scale and Participation

The Bhagwant Mann Government’s statewide Parents’ Workshop marked a defining moment in participatory governance, mobilising over 17.50 lakh parents across 100 percent of government schools in a single day. As the second statewide Parents’ Workshop, the initiative was executed through the deployment of more than 3,000 senior officers and the advance training of around 40,000 teachers, ensuring consistency and quality engagement on the ground. The programme witnessed the participation of five Cabinet Ministers and over 40 MLAs, with each school conducting structured 1 to 1.5 hour sessions, reflecting a rare combination of political commitment, administrative preparedness and community involvement under Punjab Sikhya Kranti.

MP Charanjit Channi is promoting drug traffickers by revealing drug hotspots: Baltej Pannu

Baltej Pannu

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab State Media In-charge Baltej Pannu, while launching an attack on former Chief Minister and Congress Member of Parliament Charanjit Singh Channi, said that releasing a video on social media and pointing out locations where “chitta” (drugs) is available is an extremely shameful and irresponsible act by a Member of Parliament. A person holding a responsible position should work to stop drugs, not promote places where drugs are sold.

Pannu said that whether it was the 10-year Akali-BJP rule or the subsequent Congress governments led by Captain Amarinder Singh and Charanjit Channi himself, all of them allowed drugs to flourish in Punjab and never took any concrete steps to stop it.

Today, when the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is waging the ‘War Against Drugs’, which has created fear among drug traffickers, leaders like Channi are releasing videos and telling people where chitta is available. This is a deliberate conspiracy to directly torpedo the government’s anti-drug campaign and help drug smugglers.

Baltej Pannu further said that the duty of a responsible public representative is to inform the police and get drugs stopped, not to publicize drug hotspots through videos. He questioned whether Channi is now working as a brand ambassador for drug sellers.

Pannu said that the people of Punjab are watching how Congress leaders are creating obstacles instead of supporting the war against drugs. He demanded clarification from the Congress party and its leaders, asking them to state clearly whether they stand with the government’s anti-drug campaign or with drug sellers.

Pannu warned that such cheap politics will not weaken the AAP government’s resolve to eliminate drugs. The government will continue its fight until drugs are rooted out of the state.

Health Card Becomes Lifeline for Labourer Sulakhan Singh, ₹3 Lakh Treatment Done Without Spending a Single Rupee: Dhaliwal

Punjab News

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab’s Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that the promises made to the public by the Bhagwant Mann government are now clearly being fulfilled at the ground level. Due to the visionary thinking of National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme has now become fully effective.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday along with AAP leaders Prabhbir Singh Brar and Gurpratap Singh Sandhu, Dhaliwal said that under this scheme, nearly 65 lakh families in Punjab have been ensured cashless treatment of up to ₹10 lakh, which is nothing short of a boon, especially for poor and middle-class families.

Citing a living example of the scheme’s success, Dhaliwal shared the case of Sulakhan Singh, a resident of village Gurdas Nangal in Gurdaspur district. He said that Sulakhan Singh, a daily-wage labourer, suddenly got a serious heart ailment, and doctors estimated the cost of his treatment at around ₹3 lakh.

Due to financial hardship, it was impossible for the family to bear this expense, but under the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme, his health card was prepared within just one day. After that, his heart was successfully operated on and stents were placed at a private hospital in Amritsar without spending even a single rupee. Dhaliwal said that Sulakhan Singh returning home healthy is a strong reply to those opponents who label the government’s policies as mere “rhetoric.”

Dhaliwal said that strengthening the infrastructure of education and health is the main agenda of the Punjab government. By investing in both sectors, the government is preparing a strong and secure future for the coming generations. During previous governments, the poor either drowned in debt due to expensive treatment or died due to lack of medical care, but the Mann government has made healthcare a basic right of every citizen.

He clarified that hospitals are being regularly monitored to ensure that no patient faces any kind of inconvenience and that no hospital can demand any additional payment from cardholders.

Targeting the opposition, the AAP leader said that those who remained in power for decades while neglecting these basic facilities are now unable to digest the change. He appealed to the public to get their health cards made under the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme and take full advantage of this public welfare initiative.

India US Trade Deal: Will India Cut Russian Oil Imports? MEA Reiterates Energy Security as Top Priority

India US Trade Deal

India US Trade Deal: Amid growing pressure from the United States to curb oil imports from Russia, India has firmly reiterated that energy security for its 1.4 billion people remains its highest priority, rejecting any immediate shift in its sourcing strategy.

Addressing the issue during a press briefing, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said India’s energy decisions are guided by national interest, market realities, and evolving global conditions, not external pressure.

US Trade Deal: India Focused on Energy Security, Not Political Pressure

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that ensuring uninterrupted and affordable energy supply for India’s vast population is the government’s foremost responsibility.

“Ensuring the energy security of 1.4 billion Indians is the supreme priority of the government. Diversifying our energy sourcing in line with objective market conditions and evolving international dynamics remains central to our strategy,” Jaiswal said.

He added that all present and future decisions on energy imports will continue to follow this principle, underlining India’s consistent stance on the matter.

US Pushes India to Stop Buying Russian Oil

The statement comes in response to recent remarks from the White House, which claimed that India had committed to halting direct or indirect imports of Russian oil and instead increase purchases from the United States.

The US has repeatedly argued that revenue from Russian oil exports is being used to finance the ongoing Ukraine war, an allegation Moscow has denied. Washington has been urging countries, including India, to reduce energy ties with Russia as part of its broader sanctions strategy.

Tariff Withdrawal Linked to Oil Import Discussions

According to US officials, India’s position on oil sourcing formed part of the broader context under which additional tariffs imposed on India over Russian oil purchases were withdrawn. However, India has not officially confirmed any commitment to stop buying Russian crude.

Experts note that Russian oil has helped India manage fuel prices domestically, especially amid global volatility, making an abrupt shift economically challenging.

India Continues Diversification Strategy

India has maintained that it is not dependent on a single source and continues to diversify its energy imports from multiple regions, including the Middle East, the US, and other global suppliers, based on cost-effectiveness and availability.

The MEA’s latest clarification reinforces New Delhi’s long-held position that energy decisions will remain pragmatic, market-driven, and people-centric, even as geopolitical pressures intensify.

The memorial will serve as a lasting symbol of social justice and equality, while also educating future generations about the Guru’s teachings and spiritual legacy.

The Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government’s health card scheme has once again proved to be a lifeline for the underprivileged, enabling free and timely treatment for a needy elderly patient in Gurdaspur district.

Bhagwant Mann Government’s Health Card Ensures Free Treatment

Sharing the details, AAP MLA and Punjab’s chief spokesperson Kuldeep Singh said that Sulakhan Singh, a resident of Gurdas Nangal village in Gurdaspur, belongs to a financially weak family and was suffering from a serious heart ailment. Doctors had estimated the cost of treatment, including stent and medicines, to be between ₹2.5 lakh and ₹3 lakh, an amount the family was incapable of arranging.

Saves Life of Elderly Man in Gurdaspur

Kuldeep Singh said that under the health card provided by the Mann government, the entire treatment was provided completely free of cost, including the heart stent procedure and post-treatment medicines. “This health card did not just cover expenses—it saved a life,” he said.

Highlighting the intent behind the scheme, he stated that the Mann government is committed to ensuring that no citizen is denied treatment due to lack of money. The health card scheme has been designed to offer comprehensive medical coverage to economically weaker sections, senior citizens, and vulnerable families across Punjab.

Local residents and the patient’s family expressed gratitude to the Punjab government, stating that without this support, arranging such a large amount in an emergency would have been impossible. They said the scheme has brought a sense of security to poor households who often delay or avoid treatment due to financial constraints.

Health experts note that timely access to cardiac care is critical, and schemes like this play a crucial role in reducing preventable deaths. The incident is being seen as a reflection of the state government’s focus on strengthening public healthcare and making it accessible to all.

The AAP government has repeatedly maintained that healthcare is a right, not a privilege, and cases like this underline how policy-level decisions are making a tangible difference on the ground.

Haryana News: Anurag Dhanda Flags Delay in Diet Allowance for 37,000 Haryana Athletes

Haryana News: Senior Congress leader Anurag Dhanda has raised serious concerns over the Haryana government’s alleged failure to release diet allowance to thousands of sportspersons across the state. Addressing the issue during a live interaction, Dhanda claimed that around 37,000 athletes have not received their diet expenses for over a year.

Anurag Dhanda Flags Delay in Diet Allowance for 37,000 Haryana Athletes

Calling it a matter of neglect towards the sports community, Anurag Dhanda said that athletes who represent Haryana at district, state, and national levels are being forced to manage training and nutrition costs on their own. He alleged that despite repeated assurances, the Nayab Singh Saini-led Haryana government has failed to clear the long-pending dues.

Haryana News: He further questioned the state government’s commitment to sports development

Dhanda pointed out that Haryana has earned national and international recognition due to its sportspersons, yet those same athletes are now struggling due to administrative delays. “Sports excellence cannot be sustained if basic support systems like diet allowance are ignored,” he said.

According to him, the non-payment of diet expenses has had a direct impact on training routines, performance, and morale, especially for athletes from economically weaker backgrounds. Many promising players depend entirely on government support to continue their sporting careers.

He further questioned the state government’s commitment to sports development, stating that policy announcements mean little if implementation on the ground remains weak. Dhanda urged the government to immediately release the pending payments and put a transparent mechanism in place to prevent such delays in the future.

The issue has sparked concern among athletes and sports associations, who say timely financial support is crucial for maintaining Haryana’s strong presence in national sporting events.

CM Yogi Adityanath: PM Mudra Yojana Boosts Entrepreneurship Across Uttar Pradesh

CM Yogi Adityanath: The PM Mudra Yojana is giving fresh momentum to entrepreneurship in Uttar Pradesh, with youth and women increasingly stepping into self-employment through access to collateral-free loans. Districts such as Gorakhpur have emerged as key beneficiaries of the scheme, reflecting its growing impact at the grassroots level.

PM Mudra Yojana Boosts Entrepreneurship Across Uttar Pradesh

According to official data, around 1.25 lakh beneficiaries in Gorakhpur alone were sanctioned Mudra loans worth ₹1,349 crore in the past year. The scheme has enabled aspiring entrepreneurs to access loans of up to ₹20 lakh without any guarantee, making it easier for small business owners to start or expand their ventures.

CM Yogi Adityanath government has been actively promoting the PM Mudra Yojana

Officials noted a significant rise in the number of borrowers availing loans between ₹50,000 and ₹5 lakh, indicating increased participation from micro-entrepreneurs such as shop owners, street vendors, tailors, and service providers. This category has played a key role in strengthening local markets and generating employment at the community level.

At the same time, a growing number of young entrepreneurs are opting for higher loan brackets of ₹10–20 lakh to establish manufacturing units, service enterprises, and technology-based startups. This trend highlights increasing confidence among the youth to scale up businesses and contribute to long-term economic activity.

State officials said the scheme has also reduced dependency on informal moneylenders, ensuring easier access to institutional credit for first-time borrowers. Timely disbursal and simplified procedures have helped beneficiaries stabilise income and reinvest in their businesses.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has been actively promoting the PM Mudra Yojana as a tool for employment generation, financial inclusion, and self-reliance, especially among youth and women.

The continued expansion of Mudra loans is expected to support MSME growth, improve household incomes, and strengthen the state’s local economy, particularly in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities like Gorakhpur.

Noida News: Indore 2.0! Muddy, Foul-Smelling, Live Worms And What Not! Sector 29 Brahmaputra Apartments Residents Complain Of Disgusting Water Supply

Noida News

Noida News: For more than three months, the residents of Sector 29 Brahmaputra Apartments in Noida have been receiving foul-smelling, muddy water in their taps. Housing mostly veterans from the Indian Army, the Noida Society gets water supply that often features live worms wriggling out of water taps.

The society residents decided to opt for testing the quality and hygiene of the water supply. Their worst fears were confirmed when it was revealed that the level of bacteriological contamination made the water highly unfit for human consumption.

Noida News-Presence Of Coliform Bacteria

Reports from a Delhi-based government-approved testing facility revealed that coliform bacteria were detected in the collected water samples from the Sector 29 Brahmaputra Apartments.

Reaction Of Society RWA

Head of the area’s Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA), Geeta Gumbeer remarked that the society face such disgusting water spells every now and then. However, things went out of control this time and repeated complaints to the water supply department did not brought any amicable resolution. The RWA Head added many residents in the society had to be hospitalized after they were diagnosed with severe diarrhoea.

Gumbeer also commented that it looks like the society residents would head the Indore way where many people died and severely hospitalized after sewer water got mixed with water supply for city’s residents

With no resolution in sight, a significant majority of residents have opted for the installation of water filters on the primary supply line. This helps them trap larger particles in the water supply. After this, they follow water cleansing with RO filtration and boiling.

In recent times, many complaints have been raised by residents across Noida and Greater Noida. Many residents in Alpha 2 and Delta 1 sectors were rushed to hospitals after they consumed contaminated water.

In January, suo motu cognizance in multiple states of water contamination complaints was taken by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

Delhi Biker Pit Death: Police Arrest Sub-Contractor Following Tragic Accident in Janakpuri, Raises Questions on Road Safety in the Capital

Delhi Biker Pit Death

Delhi Biker Pit Death: A tragic accident in Janakpuri, Delhi, led to a biker’s death after he fell into an unmarked pit on the road. The Delhi Police have arrested the subcontractor responsible, highlighting negligence in road safety.

Tragic Incident Shakes Janakpuri

In an unexpected event that occurred in Janakpuri, Delhi, a motorcyclist died after his bike entered an unmarked hole that existed on the street. The accident, which has sent ripples across the capital, has once again brought road safety issues to the forefront. Local residents expressed anger, believing that street maintenance and safety violations were the main problems in their city.

Police Action: Subcontractor Arrested

Delhi Police arrested the subcontractor responsible for the road maintenance work after the incident. Officials stated that the pit was part of ongoing construction, but there were no proper safety measures, signage, or barricades in place to warn commuters. The arrest is seen as a step toward accountability, but questions remain about systemic lapses in road safety management.

Safety Concerns in the Capital

This incident demonstrates a dangerous pattern that affects Delhi’s system for maintaining public infrastructure. The city has experienced fast growth, but safety procedures continue to be neglected. Experts say that unmarked construction sites, poorly lit roads, and la ack of public awareness increase the risk of fatal accidents. Citizens are urging authorities to implement stricter guidelines for contractors and to monitor construction zones in real time.

Demand for Action

Social media platforms currently display strong emotional reactions from users who express both anger and sorrow about the biker’s death. The residents demand immediate changes, including tougher penalties for dangerous practices and better collaboration between city governments and construction companies. People argue that no amount of development can justify the loss of life due to preventable accidents.
