Every one of the fourth people in India has developed COVID-19 antibodies in their body

A national-level private laboratory has claimed that every one of them every four people in India has developed COVID-19 antibodies in their body.

On Monday, Pune has reported a seropositivity of over 50% in some areas, whereas Mumbai reported 57% and Delhi has claimed 23% of seropositivity.

When a person has seropositivity in him then he has developed the immunity to fight against the COVID-19 virus.

“India is the only country with areas showing such high seropositivity. Indians are immunologically stronger,” said Maharashtra COVID task force member Dr. Shashank Joshi as quoted by India Today.

The tests are happening throughout the country by the Thyrocare laboratory. Arokiaswamy Velumani, managing director said ” Almost 24% of the two-lakh plus people tested across the country so far have antibodies of COVID-19,” he added

“Our results show India at 24% positivity is getting closer to 35% when plateauing of cases are known to happen,” said Dr. Velumani. At 45% of seropositivity, the curve takes a downward slope. “With positivity anywhere between 45%-50%, the virus becomes less impactful.”

PM Modi should urge MS Dhoni to play the 2021 T20 World Cup: Shoaib Akthar

MS Dhoni’s announced his retirement from the international cricket on Saturday. Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akthar feels that the PM Modi should urge MS Dhoni to reconsider his decision to retire and continue till World T20 next year.

MS Dhoni has given his 15-year to make Indian cricket best in all formats both a captain and player.

The 39-year-old is the only captain in the cricketing history to win all the three ICC trophies. India won the 2007 World T20, historic 2011 World Cup, 2013 Champions Trophy, and many other tournaments as well under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.

MS Dhoni has been the part of 350 ODIs, 90 Tests, and 98 T20Is while playing for India where he scored 17,266 runs. Dhoni is the most successful Indian captain and he captained in 200 matches for India in ODI.

In an interview with the Youtube Channel BolWasim, Shoaib Akthar said playing the 2021 World Cup should have been the MS Dhoni’s next target instead of retiring a year before the mega tournament.

“I think he could have gone on to play the T20 World Cup. The way India supports its stars, the way they love them, and recognizes them, they would have played him in T20s. But it was his personal choice,” Akhtar said.

“But again he has won everything, a person from Ranchi has rocked the whole of India, what else do you need. At the end of the day, the world should remember you. And a nation like India, they will never let you get forgotten.”

“You never know, the Prime Minister may call him and request him to play the T20 World Cup. That is also possible. Imran Khan was asked by General Zia-ul-Haq not to leave cricket after 1987, and he played. You cannot say no to the Prime Minister.” he said.

The legendary Pakistani pacer also believes that India owes him a grand farewell.

“India will be geared up to give him a farewell game, trust me. If he doesn’t want it, it is a different thing, but India will be ready. The whole stadium will be booked for him to play a couple of T20 matches,” the 45-year-old added.

Rhea Chakraborty makes serious allegations against Sushant Singh Rajput’s family, says his sister ‘groped me’

With new revelations being made every day, Sushant Singh Rajput death case keeps getting murkier. In the latest, Rhea Chakraborty has released an official statement wherein she made some serious allegations against Sushant’s family.

In a lengthy statement released by her lawyer, Rhea has said that she has complied with every single request from agencies investigating Sushant’s death.

The statement reads, “Rhea and Sushant were known to each other over the past several years as they were both working in the Indian Film Industry. Rhea and Sushant had maintained a cordial friendship and would occasionally communicate with each other. In April 2019, Rhea and Sushant had attended a party hosted by the film fraternity and shortly thereafter they began dating each other. Even though they spent a lot of time in each other’s homes, they officially moved in together in December 2019 and lived at Mount Blanc, Bandra, till Rhea left on the 8th of June 2020.”

Calling allegation levelled by the actor’s family ‘nonsense’, she claims that she has not received even a single transfer from Sushant’s account. She wrote, “The current allegations being levelled by his family are total nonsense and an afterthought. No allegations whatsoever were made till the 27th of July 2020 by anybody in the family before the Mumbai Police or to any other authority. Their statements were recorded by the police in Mumbai. They are educated and have an IPS officer OP Singh in the family. The allegations are totally concocted and fabricated for ulterior purposes. Rhea denies all allegations of abetment of suicide, misappropriation of funds and others or otherwise. Both the Mumbai Police and the Enforcement Directorate have been handed over all of Rhea’s financial documents which clearly show the falsity of such allegations. She has not received a single transfer from Sushant’s accounts. All her Income Tax Returns have been examined by Police as well as the ED. Neither of them have found anything incriminating against Rhea.”

She then made some serious allegations against Sushant’s Priyanka. Recalling the incident, she said that one night Priyanka was drunk and groped Rhea while she was sleeping and asked her to leave the room. After this incident, relations between Sushant’s famil and Rhea went ugly.

The statement reads, “In the initial months of their relationship, when Rhea had visited Sushant’s house, his sister Priyanka and her husband Siddharth were living with him. On one night, in and around April 2019, Rhea and Priyanka had gone out to a party. Priyanka consumed copious amounts of alcohol and was behaving inappropriately with men as well as women at that party. So, Rhea insisted that they return to Sushant’s home. Upon returning, Sushant and his sister continued drinking alcohol while Rhea retired for the night as she had a shoot the next morning. Rhea was asleep in Sushant’s room when she suddenly awoke to find Priyanka had got into bed with her and was groping her. Rhea was extremely shocked and demanded that she leave the room immediately. Subsequently, Rhea herself left the house. Thereafter, Rhea informed Sushant as to what had transpired and Sushant got into an argument with his sister regarding the same. That due to the aforesaid incident, the relationship between Sushant’s family and Rhea had been strained since inception. Even after his death when a list of 20 people was made to attend the Funeral, Rhea’s name was not included in the list and hence she was excluded from attending the Funeral.”

Talking about the June 8 – the day Rhea left Sushant’s house, Rhea said that Sushant had called his family several times to inform that he wants to move out of Mumbai and had even asked his sister Meethu to come and meet him.

“In June 2020, Sushant had been calling his family, informing them of his decision to move out of Mumbai and requesting them to come meet him. After several days of Sushant calling and crying over the phone, his sister, Meethu agreed to come live with him on the 8th of June 2020. Due to this development, Sushant requested Rhea to live with her parents for the time being. Rhea had been suffering from her own anxiety issues and often endured panic attacks. Sushant’s conduct also aggravated these conditions. Even though Rhea was desirous of seeing her family, she was not at all comfortable with leaving Sushant. The very same day, 8th June 2020, Rhea had arranged to have a therapy session of her own with Dr. Susan Walker and requested Sushant if she could leave after the session. However, Sushant told her to leave immediately before his sister Meethu arrived. Thus Rhea reluctantly left and informed Sushant to let her or her brother know about anything he required or in case he needed to talk. Rhea has always maintained that she would like the truth of the matter to be revealed by virtue of a fair and impartial investigation. She has admitted in her Petition to the SC that she sent a Message to Amit Shah Union HM to order a CBI investigation. She has also informed the SC that if the Court Transfers it to CBI she had no objection. What she has challenged is the Illegal Registration and Investigation of Bihar Police without Jurisdiction and transfer to CBI of an illegal investigation”, Rhea revealed.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the validity of the PM CARES Fund

The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to direct the Centre to transfer the contributions made to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund for battling the COVID-19 pandemic to the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).

The court also said there is no need for a new plan and that one under the National Disaster Management Act, made by the government last November, is enough to deal with Covid-19.

Dismissing a writ petition filed by NGO Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL), the bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan, R Subhash Reddy and M R Shah said: “The funds collected in the PM CARES Fund are entirely different funds which are funds of a public charitable trust and there is no occasion for issuing any direction to transfer the said funds to the NDRF… The prayer of the petitioner to direct all the funds collected in the PM CARES Fund till date to be transferred to the NDRF is refused.”

The NGO, Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL), had claimed that PM CARES Fund was set up in violation of the legal mandate under the Disaster Management Act as per which any grant made by any person or institution for the purpose of disaster management should be compulsorily credited to NDRF.

The bench said individuals and corporate houses could still donate to NDRF under the rules, which have been in place since 2015-16. Dismissing the PIL, it said, “Submission that after the new guidelines, it is not possible for any person or institution to make any contribution to the NDRF is, thus, misconceived and incorrect.

Mr. Dave had argued that PM-CARES was not subject to audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General. It was not under “public scrutiny” and contributions to it were “100% tax free”.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal had argued that corporate contributors were lured to donate to PM-CARES because they could avail of corporate social responsibility benefits, which was not possible in the case of donations to States’ funds.

People’s Bank of China invests Rs 15 crore in ICICI Bank amid India-China tension

Amid the boycott of Chinese goods in the country and the anti-China environment, the news is that the People’s Bank of China has bought a stake in ICICI. However, experts say that this does not pose any threat to the national interest.

The People’s Bank has picked up 0.006 per cent stake in ICICI Bank by investing Rs 15 crore in the private sector lender’s Rs 15,000 crore qualified institutional placement (QIP) exercise which concluded last week.

People’s Bank of China was amongst the 357 institutional investors which included domestic mutual funds, insurance companies and global institutions that subscribed to the issue. The prominent investors among them were Government of Singapore, Morgan Investment and Societe Generale.

Currently, among Indian companies, PBoC has stakes in HDFC, Ambuja Cement and Piramal Enterprises. In all the companies, the holding is below the 1% level, which necessitates compulsory disclosure. By March-end, PBoC’s stake in HDFC was slightly above the 1% level as it bought some shares just before the Indian and Chinese military forces’ skirmish in the Galwan valley in Ladakh region.

However, during the April-June quarter, the Chinese central bank sold part of its stake in HDFC and, as of June-end, it had fallen below the 1% level, company officials said.

Naseeruddin Shah says no one’s interested in Kangana’s opinions, actress replies

Kanagana Ranaut who keeps criticising Bollywood honchos time and again has found herself at the center of criticism this time. Bollywood actor, Naseeruddin Shah, without naming Kangana took a slight dig at the actress in his recent interview with India Today. Shah talked about his opinion on the nepotism debacle that has intensified after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput and called Kangana ‘some half-educated-starlet’.

“No one is interested in the opinions of some half-educated starlet who decides to take it upon herself to, you know, get justice for Sushant. If there is justice that needs to be done, I think we need to have faith in the process of the law and if it is none of our business, I think we should not concern ourselves with it,” he said.

Acknowledging Shah’s comment, Kangana’s team took to their verified handle to reply. “Thank you Naseer ji, you weighed all my awards and achievements which non of my contemporaries have on the scale of nepotism,I am used to this but would you say this to me if I were Parkash Padukone/Anil Kapoor’s daughter ?” it wrote.

The Kangana Team then shared a clip of actor’s old conversation and wrote: “Naseer ji is a great artist, itne mahan kalakar ki toh gaaliyaan bhi bhagwan ke parshad ki tareh hain, I rather watch amazing conversation we had about cinema and our craft last year and you told me how much you appreciate me.”

Meanwhile, talking about Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Shah said: , “It’s sickening. It is absolutely sickening. I have not followed it. I felt deeply grieved when the young man died. I did not know him but he had a bright future and it was a waste of a life. But I did not bother to follow the nonsense that’s being spouted by a whole lot of people.Every person who has any little frustration in his mind, in his heart, about the commercial industry, has been vomiting it out to the press. It is absolutely disgusting. I mean, keep these complaints to yourself, no one is interested.”

The Supreme Court on Wednesday handed over the Sushant Singh Rajput case to CBI as the mystery around young actor’s death continues to deepen. The SC in its statement said that the young actor sure had a bright future ahead, while adding obstruction of Bihar cops in Maharashtra has definitely raised suspicion against Mumbai Police.

After Twitter and Microsoft, the Oracle Corp has joined the race to buy popular video sharing app TikTok’s US operations. As per the report published in the Financial Times, Oracle has initiated the talks with Chinese firm ByteDance who owns TikTok to acquire app’s operation in the United States.

Besided the US, Oracle is also eying to buy TikTok’s operations in Canada, Australia and New Zealand, the report said.

The software giant Oracle co-founded by Larry Ellison has been working with some US investors who have a stake in ByteDance, including General Atlantic and Sequoia Capital, the FT added.

Meanwhile, the US President Donald Trump has said that Oracle is a good company and could take over TikTok’s US operations.

South Korea begins joint military exercises with US amid surge in covid cases

The combined military forces of South Korea and United States have begun their annual exercise on Tuesday following a delay due to coronavirus pandemic. The development has come at a time when the relations between Seoul and Pyongyang remain sour after the North region blew up an intern-Korean liaison office on its side of the border in June while violating the military measures.

The joint training will remain in effect till August 28 and will “focus on the maintenance of the combines defense posture” between the two countries, the US Joint Chiefs of staff said. The decision was taken after considering the current circumstances related to covid-19 infection, it added.

The two counties have earlier sought to start exercises from Sunday but the plan was halted as South Korea witnessed the highest surge in Covid-19 infections since early March. It reported 246 new infection on Tuesday taking country’s total coronavirus tally to 15,681.

Meanwhile, the relation between South and North Koreas remain infuriated since the crumbling of a summit between the North and United States in Hanoi over sanctions relief and Pyongyang’s action to be willing to give up in return.

The nuclear-armed North has always expressed dissatisfaction over joint military exercises between south and the US.

Australia will provide free doses of ‘promising’ covid-19 vaccine to all its citizens, says PM Scott Morrison

Australia has joined the race of manufacturing the covid-19 vaccine for its 25 million citizens. The country has obtained access to a “promising” vaccine for the coronavirus disease, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister said Australia has secured a deal with Swedish-British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca to get “early access” of the vaccine that it is developing with Oxford University.

“The Oxford vaccine is one of the most advanced and promising in the world, and under this deal we have secured early access for every Australian,” he said.

“If this vaccine proves successful, we will manufacture and supply vaccines straight away under our own steam and make it free for 25 million Australians.”

“There are always exemptions for any vaccine on medical grounds, but that should be the only basis. We’re talking about a pandemic that has destroyed the global economy and taken the lives of hundreds of thousands all around the world,” he added.

The Australian government has said that up to 95 percent of its population would need to be vaccinated for the virus to be eradicated. “We need the most extensive and comprehensive response to this to get Australia back to normal,” Morrison said.

The Oxford vaccine is one of the five vaccine candidates s that have reached Phase 3 trials and is expected to be launched by the end of this year.

While Prime Minister assured that he has reached the deal with AstraZeneca, he also asserted that the Australian government is also in talks with other potential candidates to secure the vaccine.

Currently, five vaccines – three western and two Chinese – are in Phase 3 efficacy trials to curb the covid spread.

Australia has meanwhile recorded 23,773 confirmed coronavirus cases. While 14,924 have recovered, 438 casualties have been reported in the country.

Mali’s president resigns after being arrested in military uprising

Mali’s President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta announced his resignation on Tuesday, hours after soldiers arrested him, along with the prime minister and other top officials, per state television.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday (local time) demanded “the immediate and unconditional release” of Mali President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and Prime Minister Boubou Cisse after they were “arrested” by the mutiny leaders.

Jubilant crowds in the city centre, gathered to demand Keita’s resignation, had cheered the rebels as they made their way to the 75-year-old’s official residence.

Keita appeared calm as he appeared in a state television broadcast after midnight to declare the dissolution of the government and national Assembly, and said he had no choice but to resign with immediate effect.

A spokesperson for African Union Chair Moussa Faki Mahamat said in a statement that Mahamat “strongly condemns” the arrests of the two leaders and other members of the Malian government and “calls for their immediate release.”

Earlier, Keita and Prime Minister Boubou Cisse were detained by soldiers in a dramatic escalation of a months-long crisis in the country.

The soldiers were expected to deliver a statement later, while countries in West Africa, along with former colonial power France, the European Union and the African Union, denounced the actions of the soldiers and warned against any unconstitutional change of power.
