BCCI to pay 4800 crores to Deccan Charges

Deccan Charges were the part of IPL till 2012.
Deccan Charges were the part of IPL till 2012.

After a major boost when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) won a legal battle against World Sports Group (WSG), it has suffered a blow as Bombay High Court-appointed arbitrator relinquished an award in support of now-defunct IPL side Deccan Chargers which may see the Indian board having to husk out Rs 4800 crore to Deccan Chronicle Holdings.

What did the officials say?

Meanwhile, the board’s former legal chief released a statement, “One has to secure the amount stated in the arbitrator’s order before appealing against that decision in the court which appointed the arbitrator. It was in 2015 and I said the BCCI should appeal against the appointment of the arbitrator on the grounds of bias. But the BCCI did not listen to me,” said UN Banerjee.

An appeal though is on the cards from the board against the award.”To be honest it has come as a surprise and it would be fascinating to see what the Ld. The arbitrator has relied upon and one can only make a proper assessment only upon reading the order but you can be sure that the BCCI would go in appeal against this award since it does have a very good case,” he pointed.

P. Raghu Raman former Senior Counsel representative of BCCI said: “Now that a binding arbitration award has clearly pointed out the fraudulent conduct of Lalit Modi and others from WSG group, the police complaint given by BCCI to prosecute these persons at least at this stage should be acted upon.” The future of BCCI could resist various facilities and players will be affected in the end.

RCB for life, the Chahal’s way of success

In the 12-year-old history of IPL, very few players have enjoyed as craving and an indestructible bond as Yuzvendra Chahal enjoys with the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Not only for RCB, but he delivered for his nation as well. Chahal made his international debut in 2016 and under the leadership of Virat Kohli, he grew his stem in the Indian cricket team. Sooner, he also became the most dependent spinner in the Virat’s side. His success in the shorter format of the game and strategic bowling efforts helped him to raise bars early in his career.

After his first hands in the international cricket, Chahal took his game a step further when England came visiting in 2017, he took 6 wickets just for 25 runs. His figure six for 25 is still the second-best T20I figure and the best from India. M Chinnaswamy stadium is the second home for Chahal and the English encounter became the witness for Chahal’s bowling graveyard. Later on, he went on performing good for the Indian cricket team and he also became the part of India’s dream run in the 2019 World Cup.

The RCB tale

He might have started his career with the Mumbai Indians but it was with the Royal Challengers Bangalore where he became a star. The club gave him a cult following, eventually opening the doors of Team India for him. Chahal too has been kind in return, producing one after other match-winning performances for the club.

He started his spell with RCB by playing all 14 league games in his first season for RCB. He finished with only 12 wickets but Chahal was nominated for Emerging Player of Year, where Axar Patel was chosen before him. The following two seasons saw Chahal has grown a lot as a player he is mature enough to take his team forward to a winning tale.

Real Madrid wins 34th La Liga title

Real Madrid wins 34th La-Liga Title.
Real Madrid wins 34th La-Liga Title.

La Liga’s ending couldn’t have come at a better time for Real Madrid. In just the seven games before the break brought on by the pandemic, it went out of the Copa del Rey to Real Sociedad, lost the home leg of its Champions League last-16 tie against Manchester City, and dropped seven points in five league games. Crucially, though, it did beat Barcelona 2-0 in El Clasico, a result that went a long way toward its ability to claim La Liga’s title on Thursday with a 2-1 victory over Villarreal.

How does the game go?

Since, past two months, Sergio Ramos has arguably enjoyed the best spell even of his illustrious career. In those 10 games, Madrid has conceded only four goals. Defensively, Madrid looks solid. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois again looks assured. Karim Benzema is in a rich vein of goalscoring form. For instance that 2-1 deficit to Man City in the Champions League doesn’t appear nearly as insurmountable as it did at the time.

Atletico Madrid beat Getafe 2-0 away in its penultimate La Liga game on Thursday to continue its relentless run of form. Marcos Llorente put Diego Simeone’s side in front early in the second half before substitute Thomas Partey scored in the 80th minute, sealing Atletico’s seventh win in 10 matches. Therefore, the third-placed Atletico, which had already sealed a top-four finish and qualification for next season’s Champions League, moved on to 69 points after 37 matches, two ahead of fourth-placed Sevilla who drew 0-0 at Real Sociedad.

The strangest thing about the moment Real Madrid clinched its 34th Spanish league title on Thursday wasn’t the computer-generated fans in the stands or the made-for-television crowd but yes they clinched the title at all.

Wash out or hope for West Indies?

England lead by 437 runs after Stokes and Sibley show on Day 2.
England lead by 437 runs after Stokes and Sibley show on Day 2.

The third day of the second test match between England and West Indies is been called off due to rain. England lead by 437 runs after Stokes and Sibley show on Day 2. A 260- run association between Ben Stokes and Dom Sibley dominated the second day and West Indies bowlers struggled to take wicket their wickets.

Manchester Test is all about gaining the momentum for the English team. With the return of their regular captain Joe Root, the side looked confident and they also made a solid comeback after the loss 3 wickets in quick succession. Stokes and Sibley stood for almost 95 overs and took the side in a commanding position. England finished at 469 for 9 before declaring their innings.

West Indies bowlers looked helpless but rain saved them

Windies bowlers looked helpless and strived to take wickets at crucial moments. Earlier it was a seamless transition for Stokes, who at the time of Lunch was on 99 after scoring nine fours and a six until then he faced 252 deliveries. For West Indies, the second day was full of missed opportunities and the disciple line and length were also a matter of concern for them.

Ben Stokes scored 171 runs in the first innings while the opener Dominic Sibley impressed with his 120. Hosts batted over 160 overs but still, they didn’t find themselves in a winnable position. Rain, slow run-rate is the big reason for concern for the English team in this test match but this new English approach in this test match could raise questions on team management.

Kangana Ranaut pledges to return Padma Shri if she fails to prove her claims about Sushant’s death

Mumbai: Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has reignited the nepotism in Bollywood debate for once and all. Insiders and outsiders from the industry are sharing their own experiences with respect to the subject. While some has called nepotism a deep rooted taboo in the system, others have defended it, saying real talent always finds a way.

As the debate continues to attract interest, star kids are being heavily trolled on the internet. They not only lost followers on social media, but also saw netizens boycotting their upcoming films, alleging them responsible for Sushant’s death.

From Shekhar Suman to Manoj Bajpayee, many Bollywood celebs have opened about nepotism in film industry. Kangana Ranaut, who has fiercely addressed the issue from the very beginning of her career, has made some serious claims about Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise.

The Manikarnika actress recently appeared on a television show wherein she revealed that she was summoned by the Mumbai police in Sushant’s case. Replying to which, she had asked police to send someone at her home in Manali to take her statement, but she didn’t get any response.

Kangana, who was honoured with Padma Shri this year, has vowed that she will return her award if she fails in proving the claims that she has made about the late actor.

Sushant was found dead at his Bandra apartment on June 14. As per the post mortem report, the cause of his death was revealed to be asphyxia due to hanging. However, Kangana had refuted to consider Sushant’s death as suicide and had said that it is a “planned murder” by Bollywood honchos.

After Sushant’s death, she had shared a couple of videos, accusing several prominent names of the film industry for conspiring against the otherwise talented actor that compelled him to take such a drastic step.

Meanwhile, Mumbai police have quizzed around 35 people including Sushant’s former girlfriend Ankita Lokhande, girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, and Dil Bechara co-star Sanjana Sanghi among others in connection with actor’s death

Americans divided on wearing a mask, despite the growing number of positive cases.

Coronavirus cases in the United States continue to rise as the outbreak has spread. A total number of confirmed cases is 3.68M with 141k recorded death.

Americans are looking at each other over wearing (or not) of masks, social distancing, and closures, as Covid-19 cases to rise.

Public health officials believe that face coverings can substantially slow transmission of the coronavirus, which is spreading rapidly in many states. But face coverings work best if they are adopted widely, and that is not the case everywhere.

The poll conducted by the Leger and the Association for Canadian Studies surveyed approximately 1,001 Americans (with a margin of error of 3.1 points ) on how they feel about being required to wear a mask in public to protect against the transmission of COVID-19. 47% of Americans said yes.

US firms losing trust in China, India attracts investments from tech giants

One of the top economic advisors to President Donald Trump has said that India has emerged as a big competitor in the recent years. The statement can be supported by the fact that US tech giants like Google and Facebook have announced big investments in India, he mentioned.

“I think it (investment of US companies in India) is interesting. Just a moment on India. I have been to a couple of bilateral meetings with the (Indian) leaders. What (does) that tell you. People are losing trust in China and India becomes a big competitor,” PTI quoted Larry Kudlow, director of the United States Economic Council, as saying.

He also said that with effective corporate taxes, India has become the new hub for attractive investments.

On Monday, Google chief executive Sundar Pichai announced an investment of Rs 75,000 crore in India over next five to seven years to enhance the digital technolgies across the country.

Prior to this, Facebook has announced to a deal of $5.7 billion with Mukesh Ambani’s Jio platforms. While announcing the deal, Facebook had said, “Indian firm is pro-competitive, benefits consumers, Kirana stores and other small and micro local Indian businesses, and takes forward the vision of digital India.”

India’s relationship with China, who has remained a major trading partner of the country for years, continues to be at loggerheads in the wake of recent LAC dispute. Hence, America’s investment in India at a time like this will be beneficial for both the countries.

Meanwhile, the US and China are at dispute over several issues. Trump has bltantly called out China for hiding coronavirus pandemic severity earlier. Beijing had rejected the claims made by the US president.

The Trump administration has also lashed at China for opressing Hong Kong, a semi-autonomous Chinese territroy which is involved in trade with America.

However, Kudlow remains cautious against India continuing to be “protectionist” country.

Coronavirus effect: India witnesses rapid increase in digital payment methods

New Delhi: As social distancing and avoiding human contacts have become new normal, Indians are now opting digital transactions over cash and card payments. It has been proven that currency notes including other goods have the potential to carry the novel virus for a definite period, therefore, cashless transactions remain the safest mode of payment.

The banks themselves have been sending awareness messages to avoid visiting public places and using currency notes. Many Banks including Reserve Bank of India (RBI), State Bank of India (SBI) , and Punjab National Bank (PNB) have been encouraging the use of mobile digital payment amid coronavirus scare.

According to a report published in Financial Express, coronavirus pandemic has helped India achieve use of digital payments that demonetization aimed but failed to achieve. The report also suggested that electronic transfer of funds from banks which had dropped in April due to halt in economic activity has also been reformed.

Growing digital banking has many added advantages such as:

  3. It is easier in conducting hospital payments as you can transfer money whenever and wherever you want.
  4. Digital Banking provides many cashback offers and discounts along with concession in

Besides, cashless economy is cost effective, growth friendly, business friendly, pro-financial inclusion, etc. Cashless payments also accelerate mobile data/4G penetration and build an ecosystem of service.

However, India is yet to achieve an adequate cashless society as a significant population of the country does not have access to the internet and smartphones. But for now, the change is important as the covid-19 pandemic will likely have long-term effect among us.
