Pant set to play Sydney Test after Saha’s poor performance in the first Test

Wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha and young opener Prithvi Shaw are unlikely to be selected in the playing eleven for the upcoming Test series against Australia after a poor performance in the Adelaide Test, as the Indian team plays boxing from 26 December. With many changes in the Day Test, she would like to get on the field. Veteran Rohit Sharma will not be able to join the team before the third Test, so Shubman Gill, who batted brilliantly in practice matches, may get a chance as an opener.

Having failed in both innings of the first Test, Saha has failed to win the confidence of the team management, in which Pant is sure to get a chance. Pant had scored a century in the practice match. He also played a century in the last tour of Australia (2018). In place of 36-year-old Saha, who is at the last stage of his career, the team management may try Pant in the next three games. If Pant’s performance is good in Australia, then he is sure to get a chance in the domestic Test series against England.

Saha’s bat has remained silent in Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa. His name is not a half-century in these countries. Former selector MSK Prasad said that during his tenure there were plans for Saha and Pant.

West Bengal: Amit Shah hits at Mamata Government in his rally

Amit Shah’s two day visit to West Bengal and held a roadshow in Bolpur. Shah left a stringing attack on Cheif Minister Mamata Bannerjee and her party Trinamool Congress.

The BJP veteran urged the people to give BJP a chance and promised to make the state “Sonar Bangla” in the next five bengal if they get the majority.

“Give one chance to Narendra Modi. We will make ‘Sonar Bangla’ in five years” Shah told the crowd in his roadshow in Bolpur. Targetting Mamata Banerjee, he said: “I have not seen a roadshow like this in my life. This roadshow shows love and trust of people of Bengal towards PM Narendra Modi. People of Bengal want change. This roadshow shows the anger of Bengal’s public towards Mamata didi,” said Amit Shah.

Amit Shah’s two days visit to West Bengal is the first step to boost the campaign of BJP in the poll-bound state.

“By the time elections come, you will be left all alone…Why are so many people leaving Trinamool Congress now? Because of the misrule, corruption, and nepotism of Mamata Banerjee,” Shah said at his mega rally. “You gave three decades to Congress, three decades to Communists, and 10 years to Mamata ‘Didi’. Give just 5 years to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), we will transform Bengal into ‘Sonar Bangla’,” he added.

Derek O’Brien ‘fact checks’ Amit Shah’s claims

Trinamool MP Derek O’Brien on Saturday took to Twitter to fact-check several claims made by Shah. In seven points, he dismissed some of Shah’s claim.

The Parliamentarian began with countering Amit Shah’s claim that “Mamata Banerjee had left the Congress for another party and is accusing people of defection today”.

O’Brien pointed out, in context of the above, that Mamata had, in fact, not defected to another party.

“She set up a NEW party in 1998, the All India Trinamool Congress,” pointed out O’Brien.

On another claim the state government was giving the benefits of Ayushman Bharat to the people, O’Brien said that the TMC-led dispensation had set up Swasthya Sathi two years before the Centre’s health scheme.

The TMC MP also spoke about Shah’s claim that BJP National President JP Nadda was not provided adequate security on his visit to Bengal. Offering his counter, O’Brien said: “Bengal government had provided Z+ security to Nadda but he violated all regulations by a large convoy of vehicles to follow him.”

O’Brien countered BJP’s accusations that 300 party workers were killed in the state in 1.5 years. “Many BJP workers were killed because of infighting,” he said. “Even death by suicide were being passed off as political killings.” He added that 1,027 TMC workers were killed because of political rivalry since 1997 and that 116 BJP Lok Sabha MPs had criminal records.

The TMC MP also dismissed Shah’s claims that TMC workers had appropriated food grains sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the people of the state. He said that about 10 crore people were being given free rations under a state government scheme.

The list also counters more such allegations made by the Home Minister, involving misappropriation of Ayushmann Bharat benefits and PM Kisan funds.

On Saturday, Amit Shah had unleashed a barrage of attacks on Mamata Banerjee, declaring her “misrule, corruption and nepotism” was the reason for so many people leaving her party. The remarks came as Suvendu Adihkari, who complained of “deep rot” in the Trinamool, joined the BJP.

“Why are so many people leaving Trinamool? Because of the misrule, corruption and nepotism of Mamata Banerjee. Didi, this is just the beginning. By elections time, you will be left all alone,” he said.

Adhikari, the former Minister of Transport, Irrigation and Water resource in Government of West Bengal, has taken with him a total of more than 40 TMC leaders to the BJP.

Nine MLAs – six from TMC, one from CPIM, one from CPI and one from Congress – joined BJP on Saturday. One sitting and a former TMC MP also defected to the Hindutva camp.

The Trinamool has shrugged off the exits and described the outbound leaders as liabilities.

Uttrakhand cancels exams of class 9 and 10 in Government schools

Uttarakhand is cancelling the exams of class 9 and 11, as studies were affected due to Covid.

R Meenakshi Sundaram, secretary for college training within the state stated that ” the division is reviewing the progress of on-line research within the state and a choice will likely be taken relying on the outcomes.”

“Correct research of each class 9 and 11 had been affected this 12 months resulting from Covid-19 pandemic. On-line mode of training couldn’t be carried out correctly for all college students given the topography of the state and constraints resulting from that. It could be unfair to the scholars to check them with out instructing them the entire syllabus. We’ve got not taken any remaining choice but however the choices are being thought of,” stated Sundaram.

They have taking this decision because after the reopening of schools, over 85 teachers had tested positive for Covid-19 in the first week and over 80 teachers had tested positive for Covid-19.

Uttarakhand government had allowed and issued a SOP to be followed after the reopening of schools. According to the SOP the school managements were asked to follow conditions like sanitisation of school premises before and after classes daily, arrangements be made in schools for sanitisers, handwash, thermal screening, first aid, etc.

Nepal’s President dissolves Parliament on PM Oli advice

A major crisis has arisen in Nepal’s politics. Nepal’s President Vidya Devi Bhandari dissolved the Parliament on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and announced a mid-term general election in April-May. Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is facing opposition within the party, had recommended the dissolution of Parliament, taking unexpected steps. He took this decision in a hurried cabinet meeting on Sunday morning. He later met the President and handed him a Cabinet recommendation. After the fast turnaround events, there is a possibility of political war in Nepal.

Barshaman Pun, who was the Energy Minister in the Oli cabinet, said, “Today’s cabinet meeting decided to send the recommendation to dissolve Parliament.” Many members of the ruling party have criticized the PM’s move. The PM took this step when he lost the majority in the parliamentary committee.

Nepal Communist Party spokesman Narayankaji Shrestha said that this decision has been taken in a hurry. Not all ministers were also present at the meeting. This is completely unconstitutional. Political analysts believe that there is no provision in the Constitution to dissolve the government in this way.

The main opposition party Nepali Congress has called an emergency meeting on the changing circumstances after the sudden political crisis in Nepal. A day before the government’s decision came, opposition parties National Congress and Rashtriya Janata Party had urged the President to convene a special session of Parliament. The parliament of Nepal was elected in 2017 and has 275 members.

Constitutional expert Dinesh Tripathi said that as long as there is a possibility of forming a government, there is no provision to dissolve Parliament. Another constitutional expert Bhimrajun Acharya said that Oli’s recommendation to dissolve the House is a constitutional coup. He said, “If there is a possibility of forming a government, the Nepali Constitution does not allow the Prime Minister to dissolve Parliament and hold mid-term elections.”

The entire development began on Sunday morning when Prime Minister Oli called a meeting of ministers. The meeting recommended the dissolution of the country’s parliament and mid-term elections. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli reached out to President Vidya Devi Bhandari regarding this Cabinet proposal. By noon, the President dissolved the Parliament, approving the Cabinet proposal. With this, a mid-term election was also announced in the country.

Farmers Observe ‘Shradhanjali Diwas’ For Those Who Died During Protest

The ‘Delhi Chalo’ farmers’ protest at border points of New Delhi has entered the 25th day today. Protesting farmers are observing ‘Shradhanjali Diwas’ today to pay homage to those who lost their lives during the ongoing agitation.

While a media report quoted farmer leader Jagjeet Singh Dallewala as saying that 14 farmers had died in the protest, All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) claimed that 33 farmers participating in the stir.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court had acknowledged the right of farmers to non-violent protests and mooted the idea of putting on hold the contentious farm laws to enable negotiations with the agitating farmers, which was opposed by the Centre, which said the agriculturists would not come forward for the talks then.

Farmers protesting against the three farms laws have threatened to block Ghazipur border between Uttar Pradesh and the national capital today.

The warning to intensify protests comes amid assurances from the government on the minimum support price (MSP) for their agricultural produce, a concern repeatedly raised by the farmers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accused opposition parties of betraying and misleading farmers and supporting the protests to promote their own agenda.

Shami unlikely for remaining three Tests

After India’s defeat in the first Test match against Australia, the speculations on Mohammad Shami’s inclusion in rest of the matches has increased.

The right-arm Indian fast bowler Mohamamd Shami is likely to miss the entire tour after he suffered injury in the second innings of the first Test match.

Shami got injured on the right hand just just above the wrist by Australian pacer Pat Cummins as the India Number 11 tried to take evasive action to save team’s dignity after this Indian team were bowled out at 36 runs which is the lowest in the history of Test cricket for India.

“No news on Shami, he’s going for a scan now. He was in a lot of pain and couldn’t even lift his arm. We’ll probably know in the evening what happens,” Kohli had said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is, however, yet to issue a statement on this.

Best chance for Australia to clean sweep India says Ponting

Former captain Australian Ricky Ponting believes that India’s ‘serious wounds’ have been refreshed after the embarrassing defeat of Adelaide and this is Australia’s best chance to make a clean sweep in the four-Test series.

India were bowled out for 36 in their second innings in the first Test match played under the lights. Australia won the match by eight wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Ponting told cricket.com.au, ‘Now some serious wounds have opened up. This can be a good chance (for a clean sweep).

He said, ‘Expect positive results in Melbourne and if we do that then it will be difficult for India to come back and win a match.’

India will be without captain Virat Kohli in the remaining three Tests, who will return on paternity leave and Ponting said that this will be a real test for the visiting team under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane.

PM Modi-Tomar’s open letter to farmers – ‘All things matterless’

The All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar saying that the protests of the farmers currently running are not affiliated with any political party. The committee said that it is a misconception of the government that the agitation of farmers against the three agricultural laws is being sponsored by the opposition parties. These letters were written on behalf of the farmers organization when the Prime Minister accused the opposition parties of misleading the farmers about the three agricultural laws.”

It is written in the letter, ‘It is with great regret that you have to say that while claiming to resolve the demands of the farmers, the attack that you have started from two days on the demands and agitation of the farmers shows that you There is no sympathy with the farmers and you may have changed your intention to solve their problems. Of course, all the things you said are factless. It further wrote in the letter, ‘Even more serious thing is that the things you have said, should be justified demands of the farmers in the country and society, which have been kept in writing in a systematic manner for the last six months, all over the country. Can create a state of mistrust towards the peaceful movement being carried out in For this reason, we are obliged to send you your feedback through this open letter, so that you can consider it without any bias.”

In response to the statement given by the Prime Minister on a farm conference held in Madhya Pradesh on Friday with regard to new agricultural ears, the farmers organization wrote in the letter, ‘You stressed in the farmers conference held in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh that farmers The opposition parties have been misled, they are spreading misgivings about the laws, these laws have been implemented only after considering the various committees for a long time and after all parties have expressed their opinion in favor of these changes. , Whatever specific problems were in these laws, your government has solved them in the talks and this movement is actually organized by opposition parties. Your misconceptions and statements are motivated by wrong information and you should look at the truth.

But his letter is not having any effect on the farmers, he is adamant on the demand to withdraw the agricultural law and the farmers organizations have given the status of martyrs to the farmers who were martyred during the agitation so far. To pay tribute to whom, it has now been decided to organize tribute meetings across the Punjab including the border of Delhi.

The farmers ‘organization has refuted all the allegations made by the Prime Minister’s statement and the Union Agriculture Minister’s letter written on December 17 to the farmers’ movement. The farmer organization has also mentioned some loopholes of the law in the letter. It is written in the letter, ‘You have raised some specific questions and said that you want to clear the confusion. You say that there is no threat to the farmers’ land, the contract will not be mortgaged and there will be no agreement to transfer any kind of land. We want to draw your attention to Section 9 of the Contract Farming Act, in which it is clearly stated that the payment of the cost of the goods to the farmer to the company, the arrangement of the money for it will be completed by a separate agreement with the lending institutions, Will be different from the contract. Note that lending institutions give loans only by pledging the land.

Nepal PM Oli suddenly recommends dissolution of parliament

Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has suddenly decided to dissolve the Parliament by calling a cabinet meeting on Sunday. PM KP Sharma Oli has sent the Cabinet recommendation to the President.

Nepal’s Energy Minister Bursaman Pun said that in an emergency meeting convened by PM KP Sharma Oli, the cabinet recommended dissolution of Parliament. The recommendation has been sent to the President. On the other hand, ruling Nepal Communist Party spokesman Narayanji Shrestha said that this decision has been taken in haste as not all ministers were present in the cabinet meeting this morning. It is against democratic norms and will take the nation back. This cannot be implemented.

This political development in Nepal has come to light when recently the Nepali Congress alleged that the Oli government is openly supporting the monarchists in the country. Nepal’s main opposition party, the Nepali Congress, alleged that the KP Sharma Oli government is supporting pro-monarchy rallies strategically in different parts of the country. In these rallies, there was a demand to restore the constitutional monarchy and re-establish the country as a Hindu nation.

Energy Minister in Oli’s cabinet, Barshman Pun, said, “In today’s cabinet meeting, it has been decided to dissolve the Parliament and send it to the President for recommendation.” Oli was pressurized to withdraw an ordinance related to the Constitutional Council Act which he had issued on Tuesday and was approved by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on the same day.

PM KP Sharma Oli has sent the Cabinet recommendation to the President. There is no such imagery in the Constitution of Nepal. Narayanji Shrestha, spokesperson of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, said, “This decision has been taken in a hurry as not all ministers were present in the cabinet meeting this morning.” It is against democratic norms and will take the country backward. It cannot be implemented. ”

Nehal Modi Charged In New York Of Stealing Over $1 Million In Diamonds

Nehal Modi, brother of diamond businessman Nirav Modi, has been accused of cheating one of the world’s largest diamond companies for $ 2.6 million (over Rs 19 crore) through a multilayered scheme. Announcing the charges against Nehal Modi on Friday, prosecutor Say Vance said, “Diamonds are forever but this scheme of fraud will not last forever. Now Nehal Modi will face a New York Supreme Court indictment”.

Under the laws of New York State, the first degree felony conviction means theft over $ 1 million, with a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison. According to the New York Post, Modi told the court that he was not guilty of the charge and was then released without bail. As part of the judicial process in New York, the prosecutors first presented the case to the jury, who decided that the case should proceed.

Nehal Modi is wanted in India in connection with a fraud of Rs 13,500 crore (about 1.9 billion dollars) involving Punjab National Bank and Interpol has also issued a red notice on India’s request. It requests law enforcement agencies around the world for his arrest. Nehal’s extradition is still pending.

Modi has been accused in the Supreme Court of ‘major theft in the first degree’ for taking diamonds worth more than $ 2.6 million from a diamond wholesale company based in Manhattan. Under the laws of New York State, the first degree felony theft means stealing more than $ 1 million, with a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.

The fraud dates back to 2015, when Nehal Modi took diamonds worth $ 2.6 million from LLD Diamonds USA to make a “false presentation”. Prosecution said that in March 2015, Modi first asked the company to give diamonds worth about $ 8,00,000 and said he would show them for a possible sale to a company called Costco Wholesale Corporation.

PM Modi visited Gurudwara o amidst ongoing farmer protest

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Rakabganj Sahib Gurdwara in Delhi. Here, he bowed to Guru Tegh Bahadur for the supreme sacrifice. The Sikh Samagam has been going on for the last 25 days in this gurudwara located behind Raisina Hills.

According to officials, no police barricades were conducted for the PM’s visit. PM Modi visited Rakabganj Gurudwara at a time when thousands of farmers of Punjab in Delhi are agitating against the new agricultural laws. They now have the support of farmer organizations across the country.

Today is the martyr day of Guru Tegh Bahadur. The PM’s arrival at Gurudwara Rakab Ganj is considered to be very important amidst the farmers’ agitation on the border of Delhi, as Punjab-Haryana farmers have an active role in the movement. It is said that during the arrival of Gurdwara Rakabganj at Prime Minister Modi, neither any police arrangement nor traffic blockers were installed for the common man.

Two days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the farmers in Madhya Pradesh said that “I assure all farmers that neither the minimum support price will be abolished nor the agricultural mandis will be abolished”. He also accused the opposition parties of instigating the farmers. During this, Modi also mentioned how his government has benefited the farmers by increasing the MSP of crops.

Farmers across the country have been demonstrating at the Singhu border for the last 25 days against the three farm law.

Farmers across the country will celebrate ‘Tribute Day’ in memory of those who lost their lives in the ongoing agitation against new agricultural laws. Prayer meetings will be held during this time.

Farmers of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Haryana have been stuck on the Haryana-Rajasthan border for the last 7 days. Last week, the Rewari police stopped them from heading towards Delhi. Thousands of other farmers have also been prevented from entering the Delhi border.

BJP ally Hanuman Beniwal resigns from 3 parliamentary panels in support of farmers

Amid nationwide protest against the center’s Farms bill, Rajasthan’s Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal on Saturday resigned from three parliamentary committees in support of farmers.

Mr Beniwal, a convener of the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party and the BJP’s ally at the Centre, submitted his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

He submitted his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

“I had raised various people-centric issues with the committees I was part of in Parliament. It is sad that action has not been taken on the issues. There is no justification for committees in the parliamentary system if action is not taken. As the issues remained unheard and due to the farmers’ agitation, I am tendering my resignation from the committees,” Beniwal said after resigning from the posts.

On BJP’s hard stance amid protests, Beniwal said there is no farmer leader in the BJP and that’s why they are not able to understand farmers’ pain.

A BJP spokesperson said that the RLP is supporting the protesting farmers to gain political mileage. “The BJP government is dedicated to the welfare of the farmers and majority of them are with us. The RLP had initially supported the farm laws and now taking a U-turn to gain political mileage,” he said on condition of anonymity.

State Congress spokesperson Nitin Agarwal said that there is a lot of difference between what Beniwal says and what he does.

“Initially, he supported the farmers’ law and now he is against the bills. There is a contradiction in his statements. If he really wants farmers’ benefit then just like the Akali Dal, he should break the alliance with the NDA,” he said.

He has been supporting the farmers’ agitation against three farm laws enacted by the Centre. He had demanded that the laws be withdrawn and asked the Centre to implement recommendations of the Swaminathan  commission on farmers.

The farmers are demanding a roll back of the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Ordinance, 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020.
