Apple takes down 29,800 apps from China store: Research

Apple inc on Saturday removed 29,800 apps from its Chinese app store, including more than 26,000 games, data research firm Qimai reported. The move has come in middle of a crackdown on games that don’t have the required government license to allow them for in-app purchases.

Apple has been warning game developers to acquire licences from Chinese authorities if they wish to continue their services available at the iOS App Store for quite some time now. Since the developers didn’t abide by the rules, Apple has now decided to take down the warned apps.

According to media reports, Apple had given developers a June-end deadline to submit a government-issued licence number for continuing to provide their apps for make in-app purchases.

According to data research firm Qimai, Apple pulled a total of 29,800 apps from the Chinese version of the App Store on Saturday, including more than 26,000 games. Reuters reports the new batch of removals follows an earlier sweep from the first week of July, which affected over 2,500 apps, including games from major companies including Supercell and Zynga.

The Chinese government has strict regulations on its gaming industry to remove sensitive content. Seeking approval from the officials in China is a laborious process, and often ends up taking a complicated procedure. Many small-and-mid sized developers’ are affected by the process, an industry outsider said.

“This affects small- and mid-sized developers’ incomes the most, but due to the difficulties of acquiring a business licence, it’s devastating to the whole iOS game industry in China,” said Todd Kuhn, marketing manager for AppIn China, a firm that helps overseas companies distribute their apps in the country.

Nepal to send its revised map to UN, Google

In an unprecedented move, Nepal have now decided to send its new political map to the United Nations and Google to gain international recognition. The controversial map, which includes three disputed lands and has been opposed by India, was legitimized by Nepal’s parliament unanimously by including it in the national emblem.

“We are soon delivering the revised map incorporating Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura to the international community,” Nepal’s Minister for Land Management Padma Aryal was quoted as saying by a Nepalese news portal. He also added tha the new map will shortly be sent to the international community by mid-August.

The new map shows Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani within Nepalese borders. Earlier in June, Kathmandu had made major changes its constitution to incorporate the new map into its national emblem, the move was highly criticized by New Delhi calling it an “artificial enlargement not based on historical facts and evidence.”
`
However, Nepal’s decision to send the new map to United Nations may not yield any results as the organisation does not include any areas and territories claimed by the country in its territories. The UN always prints its own map and says that the boundaries and names that are shown and the designations that have been used on this map do not implicit acceptance by the organization.

Meanwhile, the Nepal government is also preparing to publish a book that will consist the “encroached territories” of Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura.

Nepal had officially released its new political map on May 20. India had solemnly condemned the move saying “It is contrary to the bilateral understanding to resolve the outstanding boundary issues through diplomatic dialogue. Such artificial enlargement of territorial claims will not be accepted by India,” the Ministry of External Affairs had said in June.”

Australia won the game by 122 runs. Other than Harbhajan’s bad umpiring decisions had also led the Indian team down.

Remembering the infamous Monkeygate scandal during India’s tour to Australia in 2007-08, former captain Anil Kumble said on Saturday that he and other Indian players believed that Harbhajan Singh was wrong.

Australia won the game by 122 runs. Other than Harbhajan’s bad umpiring decisions had also led the Indian team down.

“As a captain you’re generally tuned to take decisions on the field. Here I was faced with something, which was off the field, to take a decision in the larger interest of the game,” Kumble told Ravichandran Ashwin during latter’s YouTube show ‘DRSWithAsh’.

“And one of our players (Harbhajan Singh) was obviously banned for three matches because of a racist remark – that was what the pronouncement was and we appealed. I felt he was wronged.

“We had to obviously be together as a team but the challenge was that there was a lot of talk about the team wanting to come back at that point in time, and leave the tour and come back.

“Yes, you know, probably (people) would have accepted that the Indian team was wronged and that’s why they came back,” he added.

“I think as a captain, or as a team, we had gone there to win the series. Unfortunately, with the first two results not going our way, the best result could have been a drawn series because two more Test matches remained and I just wanted to rally around the team. I was fortunate enough to have senior players, former captains, in the team,” he added.

Police reached her home late at the night and said that someone must be firing a gun to scare away bats from apple orchards. Suspecting foul play, Kangana inquired her neighbours about the same, they denied firing the gunshot.

“I have heard the sound of a bullet and I think it was definitely a bullet, very intently fired twice, two shots with a gap of about eight seconds between them. And it was right opposite my room. So it seems like someone was behind the boundary walls, there’s a jungle and a water body there,” she stated.

“I do feel that, you know, because I have made a political comment on people who are known for their goondagardi. So this may have been a small-time alarming call for me that okay, you know, don’t talk like that about us or something like that… to me seems like that, because such an activity has never happened here before. And I have witnesses who have also heard it along with me,” she said. “I think some local people may have been hired to come near my place, you know, it is not difficult to pay someone seven-eight thousand rupees here and assign them something like this. To do this to make a statement on the day I called out the chief minister’s son – I don’t think it was a coincidence. People are telling me that they will now make your life miserable in Mumbai. Well, I don’t have to be in Mumbai, they are doing it here also. Is there open goondagardi in this country? This is how Sushant must have been frightened. But I will continue to ask questions,” she added.

Everyone knows but no one can take his name, Karan Johar’s best friend and world’s best CM’s best son, lovingly called baby penguin, Kangana is saying if I found hanging in my house, please know I did not commit suicide.”

Kangana is currently staying with her family at her Manali residence. After her statement, the Kullu police has deployed security nearby and is checking all the vehicles passing by.

Eid Al Adha is celebrated across the country and with regulations due to Covid-19

The ‘Festival of the sacrifice,’ Eid al-Adha is called Id-ul-Adha in Arabic and Bakr-Id in the Indian subcontinent, because of the tradition of sacrificing a goat or ‘Bakri’ in Urdu. It is the second of the two Eids celebrated by Muslims with traditional fervour and gaiety in India and across the world.

Guidelines stipulate that the sale and purchase of animals for Bakri Eid has to be conducted online to prevent crowding at animal markets in light of Covid-19.

However, with no specific system in place to facilitate large-scale online trade, conveyance and delivery of goats that are predominantly sourced from other states, the guidelines have triggered confusion and indignation among animal traders and consumers in the state.

According to Times Of India: Mohammad Alam, the owner of Babu Hotel, a small eatery on Urdu Bazar Road, had managed such a deal. But he bought only two goats instead of the six or seven he usually brought home to be sacrificed on Eid ul Adha every year. “The situation is dire and not many anyway can afford to spend big sums this year,” the 38-year-old explained. “The fear of the coronavirus has prompted many to eschew Eid celebrations”.

This year with the novel coronavirus forcing us to maintain social distancing and not partake in any gathering, it is pertinent that we share our greetings online. One of the best and most interactive ways to do that is using WhatsApp stickers. There are several specialised stickers available for Bakri-Id, from which one can choose from. You can also curate your own personalised Eid-ul-Adha 2020 stickers.

Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and other Bollywood actors extended Eid greetings on social media.

Priyanka Chopra wrote, “#EidMubarak to everyone celebrating all over the world. Hope it brings us blessings, happiness & peace.”

Anil Kapoor wrote, “On this blessed occasion of Eid, wishing you and your family joy, happiness, peace and prosperity! #EidMubarak!”
