Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said the Punjab government is fulfilling the promises made to the people by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for the youth. He emphasised that self-employment is a key pillar of the government’s development agenda, aimed at empowering young people and reducing unemployment in the state.

Under the initiative, eligible youth have been granted mini bus permits to help them establish their own transport services. The scheme is expected to generate direct employment for permit holders while also improving public transport connectivity, especially in semi-urban and rural areas.

“Providing employment opportunities within Punjab is our priority. Through such initiatives, we want our youth to become job creators rather than job seekers,” Mann said during the event. He added that the government is continuously working to support entrepreneurship and small businesses through transparent and people-friendly policies.

Officials said the mini bus permit distribution programme will not only strengthen the transport sector but also contribute to the local economy by creating additional indirect employment opportunities. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to encourage self-reliance among Punjab’s youth.

The Punjab government has rolled out several employment-focused schemes over the past months, focusing on skill development, self-employment, and public sector recruitment. The latest initiative further underscores the Mann government’s emphasis on inclusive growth and economic empowerment at the grassroots level.
