Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while extending greetings to the people on the occasion of Maha Navami and the upcoming Vijayadashami, underlined the pivotal role of Nari Shakti in society. He said, “Life without women’s power is unimaginable. Our government is consistently working with the spirit of respect, security, and self-reliance for women.”
The CM emphasized that despite being the most populous state in the country, Uttar Pradesh has recorded comparatively lower incidents of crimes against women. He further pointed out that the state ranks first in ensuring convictions in cases of crimes against women, a sign of the government’s resolve to deliver justice swiftly.
Mission Shakti: A Flagship Programme for Women’s Security and Self-Reliance
Underlining the government’s focus, Yogi announced the launch of the fifth phase of Mission Shakti from September 22, coinciding with the start of Sharadiya Navratri. This flagship programme covers women’s safety, awareness, and empowerment, reaching down to the panchayat level. From self-defense training and helpline services to financial inclusion and entrepreneurship support, the initiative has been expanding across districts with remarkable outcomes.
BJP Govt’s Initiatives for Women Empowerment in Uttar Pradesh
Since coming to power, the BJP government under Yogi Adityanath has rolled out a series of schemes to strengthen women’s role in society:
- Safety & Security: Deployment of dedicated police units like Women Power Line 1090, women police desks, and pink patrols to ensure quick action and a safer environment.
- Legal Justice: Uttar Pradesh leads the country in delivering the highest conviction rate in crimes against women. Fast-track courts and strong investigation measures have played a major role.
- Economic Empowerment: Programmes such as One District One Product (ODOP) have actively encouraged women entrepreneurs and SHGs (Self Help Groups), helping them become financially independent.
- Health & Welfare: Schemes like Matra Vandana Yojana, improved maternal health infrastructure, and targeted nutrition programmes have uplifted women’s health indicators.
- Education & Awareness: The government has prioritized girl child education through initiatives like Kanya Sumangala Yojana, scholarships, and free distribution of resources such as uniforms and bicycles.

Yogi reiterated that Sanatan Dharma has always placed women at the center of its moral and cultural ethos. “From ancient times to today, Indian women have continuously surprised the world with their strength and capabilities,” he said, adding that the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh is dedicated to transforming these values into action.
With Mission Shakti gaining momentum, the state aims to create an ecosystem where women feel safe, respected, and empowered to contribute fully to the vision of Viksit Uttar Pradesh.
