Passport News: India Climbs Global Rankings, Visa-Free Access Now Available to 59 Countries

According to a Passport News update in its major update, India has moved up a significant number of positions in the Henley Passport Index 2025, which has moved it to the 77th spot; the country was ranked at 85th. The turnaround is made despite the addition of just two destinations, raising the number of visa-free countries, for which one can get a visa on arrival, to 59. This is a proud moment to the people with an Indian passport since it has been expanded to countries that allow Indians entry without a visa such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Maldives, and Thailand countries, and others such as Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Macau that allow Indians entry to a country on a visa basis known otherwise as a visa on arrival.

What Is the Henley Passport Index?

Henley Passport Index ranks the countries according to the number of destinations that their holders can visit without the need for a visa in advance. In this Passport News, the increased rankings of India indicate increased international trust and widened diplomatic relations.

Asia Leading Global Mobility

The current trends in global mobility, where Asian countries have taken the lead, can also be seen in the Passport News of this year. Countries such as Singapore, Japan, and South Korea are still providing the strongest passports worldwide. Simultaneously, the rise of India, combined with the gradual increase in the power of other countries, such as China and Saudi Arabia, illustrates a distinct change in the distribution of power on the global map.

Why This Matters for Indians?

This increase in the passport rank is not some figure. It brings actual results:

  • Convenience in travelling to the beautiful and business-rich nations

  • Cost reduction due to visa payments and paperwork

  • Enhanced the reputation of India in the world
