Vande Bharat: Udaipur-Ahmedabad Train Adds Shamlaji Road Stop for Seamless Connectivity! Would This Be A Massive Boon For Gujarat Pilgrims?

Vande Bharat: A well-known pilgrimage destination, Shamlaji is famous for the Shamlaji Vishnu Temple that is located on the banks of the Meshvo river. Also known as Dholi Dhajawala because of the white flag that flutters on temple's top, the temple is believed to have been built around the 16th century.

Vande Bharat: Indian Railways has announced that a trial halt at the Shamlaji Road Railway Station (SJS) would be started for the Udaipur City–Asarva (Ahmedabad) Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 26963/64). This would help in improving regional connectivity and passenger convenience.

Vande Bharat-Special Ceremony

During a special ceremony, Chief Guest Poonamchand Baranda, Gujarat Minister of State of Tribal Development, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Shobhanaben Mahendrasinh Baraiya, Member of Parliament, Sabarkanth, flagged off the train at the Shamlaji Road station. On the occasion, senior railway officials such as Mahendra Depal (Regional Officer, Udaipur), Mihir Dev (Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Ajmer Division) and other officials and local dignitaries were present.

The train running between Udaipur and Asarva (Ahmedabad) would now stop at Shamlaji Road along with Dungarpur, Zawar and Himmatnagar.

A well-known pilgrimage destination, Shamlaji is famous for the Shamlaji Vishnu Temple that is located on the banks of the Meshvo river. Also known as Dholi Dhajawala because of the white flag that flutters on temple’s top, the temple is believed to have been built around the 16th century.

The sculpture of Lord Vishnu probably dates back to the 7-8th century and the small temple opposite the temple is home to a 6th century sculpture of Lord Shiva. Shamlaji is also home to the Karmanu pond and the Surya reservoir known to wash away sins.

Shamlaji, which is 29 km from Modasa and 20 km from Bhiloda, is frequented by state transport buses from Ahmedabad and Himmatnagar.

Train Timings At Shamlaji Road Railway Station (SJS)

Train No. 26963 (Udaipur City–Asarva) would arrive at 8:28 am and depart at 8:30 am while Train No. 26964 (Asarva–Udaipur City) would arrive at 7:18 pm and depart at 7:20 pm.

The halt at the Shamlaji Road Railway Station (SJS) would remain on a trial basis until further orders.
