Australian skipper Pat Cummins again stepped up when his team needed him
most, as he demolished six South African players in the second innings during the WTC final 2025 at Lord’s.
Cummins delivered a magical performance after the Aussies bundled out for just 212 runs and picked up 6 wickets for 28 runs to rip apart South Africa’s middle order. It was the Cummins’ 14th 5-wicket haul and shattered many records during the World Test Championship (WTC) final 2025.
Pat Cummins shatters multiple records
Pat Cummins’ five-fer against South Africa in the WTC final helped him to surpass Indian legend Bishan Singh Bedi with nine five-wicket hauls as a skipper in Test cricket. Cummins is now only behind Imran Khan, who has 12 five-wicket hauls in Test cricket.
Cummins picked up two wickets in the morning session, but his magical spell came in the afternoon session, where he gave just one run in 17 balls and scalped four wickets in the window, which left South Africa stunned.
Cummins also touched the 300-wicket mark in red-ball format and became the eighth Australian and 40th player in world cricket to breach the milestone in red-ball format.
Aussie skipper also became the second Australian to touch the 200-wicket mark in the WTC history and the only Australian pacer to do so. He also joined Imran Khan to become the 10th fast bowler to touch 300 wickets.
