Kiwis A side to tour Australia

Later this month, the New Zealand ‘A’ team will be travelling to Australia to compete in two four-day matches and then three one-day matches divided between Brisbane and Mackay. Ten members of Australia A’s 50-over team have played cricket internationally, so they have a formidable team ready to greet their old rivals. The most well-known player in Australia A for the one-day matches is Marnus Labuschagne, a seasoned veteran who was left off of the nation’s original 18-person roster for the ODI World Cup in India in October-November.

In the one-day matches, players like Labuschagne who have recently represented Australia include Matthew Kuhnemann, Ben McDermott, Todd Murphy, and Matt Renshaw. The other players who have received experience overseas are Josh Philippe, Ashton Turner, Wes Agar, Gurinder Sandhu, and Ben Dwarshuis.

ODI stats of Marnus Labuschange

In ODI cricket, Labuschagne has not been successful despite being one of the greatest in the field in Test match cricket. In 2020, Marnus played in his first ODI and had tremendous promise, averaging almost 40. The right-hander only managed to score 331 runs last year in 14 innings, averaging 25.46 runs per inning. Marnus Labuschagne has only scored 43 runs in this year after two innings.

There will be two four-day matches between Australia A and NZ A as part of the series, which includes games in Brisbane and Mackay. Players who took part in the Ashes in 2023 or played a lot of winter cricket weren’t chosen.
