Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023

Stuart Broad achieved a unique record in his last Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023 test match. A perfect end to a brilliant career. Read here.

Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: You could not have asked for a better ending to such an illustrious career than this. When Yuvraj Singh hit six sixes in an over to Stuart Broad, he was young and became a meme worldwide.

But now that he has retired after becoming the second bowler to take 600 wickets in test matches, it is an emotional moment. There might not have been a dry eye in Oval when Broad bowled his last delivery.

Broad dismissed the last batsman in the form of Carey to give England the win. And this wicket earned him such a unique and prestigious record that many players won’t be able to achieve.

A Unique Record Created

Stuart Broad created unique records with bat and ball in his final match. While batting in the second inning, he hit the last ball he faced for a six over the mid-wicket. And with that six, he is now ranked fifth in most sixes in test cricket for England with 55 sixes.

James Anderson got out in the next over, meaning Broad went to the dugout while remaining not out. He also took the last wicket of Australia’s inning when he got the edge of Alex Carey in the 95th over.

With that wicket, he became the first and only player to hit a six on his last ball and take a wicket on the last ball of his career. A record that might not be broken for a very long time.

Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: Series Levelled

England won the fifth and final match of Ashes 2023 to level the series 2-2. The Aussies might have retained the series, but the comeback by England after going 2-0 was amazing. They would have won the series if it were not for rain.

Chris Woakes also got the man of the match and the series for the English side. Mitchell Starc was awarded the Man Of The Series award as he was the highest wicket-taker with 23 wickets in 7 innings.
