Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023
In his brilliant inning of 99 during Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023 fourth test match, Jonny Bairstow achieved an unwanted record. Find out here.

Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: In the fourth test match of Ashes 2023, England dominated Australia like never before. And the credit goes completely towards the team efforts that the English showed on the field.

They dismissed Australia in the first inning with a relatively low score. And then they scored a whopping total of 592 runs in their first inning. This resulted in a lead of 275 runs and in reply Australia is in dire condition with 113/4.

One of the highlights of England’s batting was none other than Jonny Bairstow. Who remained not on 99 in just 81 deliveries. And with that, he achieved an unwanted feat that no batsman might want to achieve.

Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: Stranded on 99

Jonny Bairstow was stranded on 99 as the other batsmen keep falling down. And when James Anderson was LBWed, Bairstow achieved a remarkable yet quite frustrating and unlucky feat in Ashes.

He became the first batter to be stranded on 99 in an Ashes test series in 28 years. The last batsman who was stranded on 99 was Steve Waugh back in 1995. Bairstow joins MJK Smith, Geoffrey Boycott, and Micheal Atherton as fellow English batsmen with two scores of 99 in test matches.

An Unwanted List

The English Wicket Keeper joins an unwanted list of unfortunate and brilliant players list who were left stranded on 99. Bairstow becomes the seventh player on that list so let’s take a look at that.

The list includes names such as Geoff Boycott vs Australia, and Steve Waugh Vs England. Alex Tudor Vs New Zealand, Shaun Pollock Vs Sri Lanka, Andrew Hall Vs England, and Misbah Ul Haq Vs West Indies.
