Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: Nathan Lyon Bashes Kevin Pietersen In Interview! Calls His Criticism Rubbish; Read

Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: On the fourth day of the second Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023 test we saw a brilliant moment. A moment of resilience, a moment of pure love for the country, and a moment of a player’s complete devotion to the game of cricket.

Nathan Lyon was injured on the second day of the second Ashes test while fielding. He was carried off the field instantly and was ruled out of the match. Yet, when his team needed him, he came to bat at last even when he couldn’t walk properly.

He might not contribute with the ball in this match, but he got some very valuable runs for his team. His act was praised by many fans around the world and even got the Lords’ crowd on their feet. But, England’s former captain had a different idea about it.

Pietersen Food For Thought in Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023

When Lyon came out to bat, Kevin Pietersen stated that Australia might have sent Lyon to get hit in the head. According to the new concussion rules, if a player is concussed during a match, a team can get a like-for-like replacement.

Pietersen stated that Lyon might be batting with the idea of getting concussed so that Murphy can replace him. He stated that it was his food for thought and Murphy is a world-class spinner as well.

The former English batsman stated “Imagine if Lyon had been hit on the head and got a concussion. He would have been replaced by Todd Murphy, who bowled well in India.”

‘I have lost a friend because of that’ – Nathan Lyon

Nathan Lyon was not impressed by Pietersen’s ‘Food-for-thought’ and declared it absurd. He further stated that he has lost one of his mates by getting hit on the head. Lyon was referencing the death of Phil Hughes.

He further stated that he did it for his country and will do it again and again. “I knew the risk of batting, but I’d do anything for my team. If it was tomorrow I’d do it again, and again and again for my country”.
