Cricket Viral Video: In the first ever men’s T20I match held on February 17, 2005, between New Zealand and Australia in Auckland, umpire Billy Bowden humorously displayed a red card to Glenn McGrath as he attempted to throw an underarm ball. The moment took everyone by surprise as such incident was a regular sight only in football.

Ricky Ponting scored a 55-ball 98 as Australia, after winning the toss and batting first, amassed a colossal 214-5. New Zealand, in their chase, were dismissed for 170, with Scott Styris top-scoring with a 39-ball 66.
The incident occured just before the last ball was bowled in which New Zealand needed an impossible 45 runs to win. In a previous ODI match, Trevor Chappell had bowled an underarm delivery on the instructions of his captain and elder brother, Greg Chappell, when New Zealand required six runs off the final ball to tie the game.
In this match also, during the final over of the match, Billy Bowden, who was the umpire at the bowler’s end, noticed what Glenn McGrath was about to do and intervened. Just as he was about to bowl the underarm delivery, he showed the red card. He pulled out a red card from his pocket and pretended to send McGrath off the field in a soccer-style manner.

Then, McGrath eventually took a wicket on the last as well, bundling out New Zealand for a score of 170 runs and winning the match by 44 runs. It was a great start to the new and shorter format of game.
