Deepak Hooda’s brilliant spell in the match

In the decisive victory, India produced two heroes. The first was Player of the Match Suryakumar Yadav, who recorded his second T20I century by exploding for 111 runs off 51 balls at an incredible strike rate of 217.65. Deepak Hooda, an all-rounder, was the other standout performer with four wickets taken for just 10 runs in 2.5 overs.

Thus, Hooda set an amazing personal record with the ball. In T20I cricket between India and New Zealand, his bowling statistics are currently the best. Only three other bowlers have taken four-wicket hauls in T20Is between the two teams: Mitchell Santner, Daniel Vettori, and Trent Boult. The spinner Axar Patel’s previous best bowling figures by an Indian in T20Is between India and New Zealand were 3/9 in three overs, which Hooda also surpassed with his incredible spell.

India takes a dominant lead in series

Tim Southee, a fast bowler for New Zealand, took a hat-trick in the game while dismissing the captain Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda, and Washington Sundar in quick succession in the 20th over. Southee had achieved the feat twice in T20I cricket. With 61 runs in 52 balls, captain Kane Williamson led the home team in scoring for the innings.

With the fantastic victory, Pandya and company are currently leading the three-match series 1-0. On Tuesday, November 22, the third and final game of the series between New Zealand and India will take place.
