European T20 Premier League: The European T20 Premier League would be a reality starting 26 August 2026 and Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan is hopeful that Virat Kohli may join Europe’s first-ever franchise-based T20 event one day.
Presently, BCCI regulations don’t allow Indian players to become available in cricket leagues of other countries.

The list of franchise owners in the European T20 League include Abhishek Bachchan, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Waugh, Kyle Mills and Nathan McCullum
At the official launch of the event in Sydney, Bachchan remarked Europe does not have a franchise T20 cricket league as of now and we all felt that this is just the perfect time to change that. The Bollywood celebrity, who is the son of the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, also commented that there is so much untapped potential in Europe and this league would help us discover new talent from European countries to put them on the global cricket map.
Season Venues
The inaugural season of the European T20 Premier League would be played at the Netherlands and Dublin with franchises based in Belfast, Edinburgh and Amsterdam already confirmed. The remaining teams are likely to be announced in the coming few weeks.
Australian Legend Steve Waugh would head the Amsterdam franchise along with former corporate executive Tim Thomas and Australian hockey legend Jamie Dwyer.
The franchise of Edinburgh would be co-owned by McCullum and Mills. Belfast would be led by Maxwell and former NRMA Group CEO Rohan Lund.
Abhishek Bachchan is the investor and co-founder of the league along with Saurav Banerjee, Priyanka Kaul and Dhiraj Malhotra.
The European T20 Premier League would be operated as a joint venture between Rules Global and Cricket Ireland with support from the Royal Dutch Cricket Association and Cricket Scotland.
