GG vs DC WPL 2023: Delhi Capitals OUTSHINE Gujarat Giants in every department with clinical 10-wicket victory in 7.1 overs

GG vs DC WPL 2023: The clash between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Giants proved to be an extremely one-sided affair. The match took place at DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai where Delhi Capitals defeated the latter by a massive 10 wickets margin. Earlier, Sneh Rana, the skipper of GG, won the toss and opted to bat first and her decision completely backfired as the team could score just 105 runs. Coming to the chase, Delhi Capitals crossed the target within just 7.1 overs with Shafali Verma scoring 76* off 28 balls.

Gujarat Giants fall flat against Kapp

Batting first, Gujarat Giants failed to go big as Marizanne Kapp took a fifer and half of the team went back to paviollion within just powerplay. Kim Garth was the star performer for Gujarat, as she emerged as the top scorer with 32 runs. Apart from her, only three other players from the team managed to reach double-digit scores. Georgia Wareham scored 22, Harleen Deol contributed 20, and Tanuja Kanwar scored 13 runs.

Unfortunately, the remaining batsmen couldn’t perform well, as none of them could even reach the double-digit mark. Delhi’s Marizanne Kapp was the standout bowler of the game, taking five crucial wickets. Shikha Pandey and Radha Yadav also made significant contributions with three and one wicket, respectively.

Shafaii Verma’s havoc

Coming to Delhi’s inning, the team scored the target without any difficulty. Opener Shafali Verma smashed 76* from just 28 balls, reaching her fifty in just 19 balls, Throughout her innings, she hit ten boundaries and five sixes. Skipper and opener Meg Lanning scored 21* off 15 balls. The chase proved to be rather easier as Delhi Capitals went beyond the line without losing any wickets.
