ICC T20 World Cup 2024: It was a tough start for Virat Kohli against Ireland in the opening match of the tournament. India had to chase a very small target of 98 runs on a pitch that was tough for batsmen.
The pitch was breathing fire against the batsmen and everyone had to play sensibly to survive on the pitch. But after so much criticism over his strike rate, Kohli is not going to bat sensibly now.
He adopted a new persona by the end of IPL 2024 and focused on scoring quickly rather than batting longer. This approach became his undoing when he got out for just a single in the Power Play itself. But whenever Kohli faces a failure, he comes back stronger in the next match. And even the Pakistani media knows of this and is dreading Kohli as India Vs Pakistan is right around the corner.
Virat Kohli Storm
If we look at Kohli's track record, we will find that in every T20i World Cup, whenever he has failed to score, he has come back stronger in the next innings. It is a shame for Pakistan that India's next match will be against them.
If we add, Kohli's track record against Pakistan in World Cups, we see a completely different beast altogether. Virat has scored 488 runs against Pakistan in 10 T20i matches with an average of 81.33.
Pakistan's journalist Shoaib Jatt also knows that. He went to 'X' and wrote "Not a good sign. Now he will play a big innings as per his track record, which we can't afford. Pakistani bowlers should get him early to win the game," after Kohli's dismissal against Ireland.
ICC T20 World Cup 2024: The Dreadful Pace Attack
While Virat does possess a freak record against Pakistan, the Pakistan side might have the best pace attack in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The likes of Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf can make the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium dangerous for batsmen.
They are capable of getting out Kohli early in the innings. If they can do that, things might change because Virat Kohli can change the dynamic of the game by himself.
