IND vs AUS: In preparation for the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Men in Blue, the Australian Cricket Team has adopted new methods to enhance their fielding skills. In Delhi, before departing for Indore, the team, led by Steve Smith, engaged in a unique training drill that involved the use of rollers, rugby balls, and steel boards.

Aussies to seek for a draw

Andrew Borovec, the team’s assistant coach, introduced these tools to help improve the fielding abilities of players like Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, who had been struggling with missed catches at slip. The rollers, and still boards were utilised to deflect the ball and create a challenging fielding exercise.

After being defeated in the first two Tests within a span of just six days, Australia has missed the opportunity to regain the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The tour has been plagued by issues with batting, and in addition, there have been concerns about subpar slip and close-in fielding. To address these concerns, the Australian team has resorted to using whatever resources are available to them in an attempt to simulate conditions that they will encounter, according to reports.

To improve their catching skills, the Australian team has utilized various equipment during practice, including pitch rollers, steel boards typically used for fencing, and Australian footballs. In the upcoming match in Indore, the team will face challenges posed by both pace and spin. Despite the early preference for pace in Indore, Australia plans to maintain their three-spinner strategy, featuring Lyon, Murphy, and Kuhnemann. After injuries, Cameron Green and Mitchell Starc are set to replace Matt Renshaw and Pat Cummins in the Playing XI.

Steve Smith will lead Australia while Pat Cummins is away attending to his sick mother, with plans for his return during the final Test in Ahmedabad. David Warner is also absent and Travis Head is expected to take his place as an opener. Australia is considering adding a third seamer, such as Scott Boland or Lance Morris, to compensate for their depleted squad and limited batting options. A quick bowler could help the team dismantle Team India.
