IND vs AUS: In what could be termed as historic win, India has defeated Australian team with an innings and 132 runs in the first test of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023. The visitors, Australia, failed miserably in the second innings as they could manage to score just 91 runs.

Ashwin shines in the IND vs AUS first test
Ravichandran Ashwin delivered a stunning performance, taking his 31st five-wicket haul, putting the Australian team in a precarious position of facing an innings defeat. Ravindra Jadeja claimed the wickets of Usman Khawaja and Pat Cummins, and Axar Patel took out Todd Murphy. Ashwin sent Marnus Labuschagne, David Warner, Matt Renshaw, Peter Handscomb, and Alex Carey back to the pavillion.
Batting first, Australian team scored 177 runs with Labuschagne scoring 49 runs. However, that could not prove to be enough as India continued their stellar run and amassed 400 runs in their first innings, thanks to valiant knocks by Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja. The spinners continue to wreak havoc and soon Australian team was bundled out for just 91 runs with Steven Smith being the highest scorer, having 25 runs on his name. Only two other batter, Warner and Alex could reach the 10-run mark.
Heroic knock by Axar Patel and Rohit Sharma
In their first innings, the Indian cricket team was dismissed for 400 runs, giving them a substantial lead of 223 runs. Axar Patel played an exceptional game in Nagpur on Saturday, scoring 84 runs and contributing to India’s lead surpassing the 200-run mark. The all-rounder dominated the Australian team at the VCA Stadium with his powerful hitting. Earlier, skipper Rohit Sharma smashed a valiant century, playing a knock of 120 runs.
