IND vs BAN: In the ongoing test match between India and Bangladesh, opener Shubman Gill has smashed a century. India started their innings with a lead of 254 runs and since then the lead has only grown past. Star opener Shubman Gill, who is known for his terrific playing skills hit his maiden test hundred.

Shubman Gill scores maiden test hundred

This also happens to be his second international hundred. He played a knock of 110 runs from 152 balls before getting caught by Mahmudul Hasan Joy off a delivery from Hasan Mehidy. He struck 10 fours along with 3 sixes in his knock. Though, a valiant century it also came in at a very required time as the Men in Blue were looking to strengthen their lead in the tests.

However, it would be interesting to see how things unfold when the regular skipper Rohit Sharma returns to the playing 11. The opening slot of Team India is surely under big contention with Rohit and KL already taking up the spot. In 147 balls, the opener hit eight fours and two sixes while surpassing the triple-figure mark.

Gill’s ninth century in first-class cricket

Gill’s prior record was 91 runs, which he scored in Brisbane in 2021 against Australia. Before this game, Gill had four fifty-plus scores in his 21 innings of Test cricket. This was Gill’s ninth hundred-plus score in a First Class match.

Cheteshwar Pujara too is steadily marching towards his century as he is currently batting at 70*. Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav took a fifer in the innings which demolished Bangladesh on just 150 runs. It was Kuldeep’s seventh test match and was also his comeback to the side after 20 months.
