The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the schedule of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after a long wait and the defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on last year’s runners-up Chennai Super Kings in the first match on September 19 in Abu Dhabi.

The world’s most famous T20 league is being organised this year in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, the three top cricketing venues in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) amid the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in India.

This time the organisers have decided to start the matches 30 minutes prior to the regular timings of the IPL matches. The day games, now instead of 4 pm, they will start at 3:30 pm. The evening matches will be played from 7:30 pm, which was earlier from 8 pm.

Only 10 doubleheaders will be played in this season. The tournament will start on September 19 and run for 53 days and the final will be held on November 10. The IPL 2020 playoff venues will be announced later. This tournament will run for a total of 53 days and thus it will become the longest-running season in the history of IPL.
