IPL 2023: Covid-19 Scare yet Again; Fan-Favourite Commentator Aakash Chopra Tests Positive

IPL 2023: Former Indian Cricketer Aakash Chopra is renowned for his commentary. Presently, he has been working for IPL 2023 as a commentator. However, as per the latest update, he has been diagnosed with Covid-19 during the first week of the tournament. Chopra shared on Twitter that he is experiencing mild symptoms and will be taking a break from commentary duties for a few days.

Aakash Chopra diagnosed with Covid

Taking to Twitter, Aakash Chopra stated, “Caught and Bowled Covid. Yups…the C Virus has struck again. Really mild symptoms … all under control, Will be away from the commentary duties for a few days, hoping to come back stronger #TataIPL.” Aakash Chopra is part of JioCinema’s illustrious commentary panel for the ongoing IPL 2023 season that began on March 31.

Apart from commentary, Chopra is also involved in other programs. Hence, the organisers and broadcasters will be monitoring the situation closely for the well-being of everyone involved. He is also involved in meeting several other players during the commentary stint. However, he will most probably miss his work for several days now.

Recent surge in Corona Cases

In recent seasons, the IPL has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, necessitating the creation of bio-bubbles and holding the tournament in secure locations. This season, the league has returned to its traditional home and away format as things are getting back to normal. However, in the past week, India has seen a rise in new COVID-19 cases. On Tuesday, the Union Health Ministry updated that India had recorded 3,038 new cases of coronavirus, and the number of active cases increased to 21,179.
