Kapil Dev Uninvited to World Cup 2023 Final, Opens Up in Interview, Says ‘Unhone Nahi Bulaya’

The legendary cricketer Kapil Dev of India makes the unexpected admission that he was not invited to watch Australia and India compete in the 2023 World Cup final.

World Cup 2023 Final: India’s first-ever World Cup victor, captain Kapil Dev, revealed that he did not receive an invitation to the World Cup 2023 final, which would take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium between Australia and India. Speaking to ABP News, Kapil explained his absence, saying that the BCCI had not asked him, even though he wanted his entire 1983 World Cup team to be present.

Absence at 2023 World Cup Final

“You called me, I came here. Unhone nahi bulaya, mein nahi gaya (the BCCI didn’t call me, I didn’t go), as simple as that. I wanted my whole 1983 World Cup team to be there. But there is so much work going on, there’s so much responsibility, sometimes people forget,” Kapil said to ABP News. In the 1983 World Cup, Kapil guided the Indian team to glory, securing the trophy with a victory over the tough West Indies in the final.

ICC’s Invitation Plans

Though no official confirmation has been made, reports indicate that the International Cricket Council (ICC) plans to invite every captain who has won a World Cup to the 2023 Cricket World Cup final, which will take place in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. The 1975 champion Clive Lloyd is expected to be present, along with India’s captains MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev and possibly England’s Eoin Morgan.
