KKR vs GT IPL 2023: On Saturday at the Eden Gardens, KKR’s star batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz achieved the highest individual score by an Afghan player in the IPL, scoring 81 runs off just 39 balls against his former team, the Gujarat Titans.
Gurbaz plays an epic knock
Taking the place of Jason Roy as the opening batsman for KKR, Gurbaz displayed an aggressive style of play against the bowlers of the Gujarat Titans. He surpassed his previous record of 57 runs, which he had set earlier in the tournament against RCB. In the second over, Gurbaz unleashed his power by hitting two sixes off the deliveries of rival captain Hardik Pandya.
The 21-year-old right-handed batsman proved successful against his compatriots Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad. However, his innings came to an end when he mistimed a low full-toss from Ahmad, resulting in a difficult catch for Rashid at deep mid-wicket. He made a remarkable impact by smashing five boundaries and seven sixes against the helpless bowling attack of the Titans.
