Mohammed Amir, a former fast bowler from Pakistan, has been at it again with his wild predictions about how well India will perform at the T20 World Cup in 2026. Amir made headlines again in February 2026 when he made these outrageous claims while appearing on Geo News, and he brought back the cross-border cricket conversation and opinions.

Amir’s Bold Statement On Live Television
On the television show Haarna Mana Hai, Amir told viewers that “India has failed to get anywhere close to winning any match except against Pakistan.” Moreover, he stated that there would be no possibility of India reaching the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, regardless of whether or not Pakistan qualified for the same event. Therefore, in a bold statement in Urdu, he made it clear that, “Whether Pakistan qualifies or not, India will not qualify.” He was able to say this because Amir felt India’s failures had occurred against really good bowling line-ups.
Concerns Over India’s Super 8 Challenge
Mohammed Amir has pointed out how strong squads such as South Africa (SA) and the West Indies (WI) pose challenges to India’s success. Amir has suggested that the current form of Indian batsmen is very weak and that, therefore, there would be difficulty for India making it through to the knock-out phase of the tournament.
India’s On-Field Reply
Mohammed Amir comments put extra pressure on India going into its critical last match during Super 8. Cricket, however, has had a different result than Amir predicted. India defeated the West Indies in the last match on February 29/March 1 and secured the fourth and final position to get to the semifinals. This result was a complete inversion of what Amir had predicted.
