Asia Cup 2023: Nepal’s victory over UAE in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2023 not only brought the team one step closer to the championship but also secured its place in the Asia Cup 2023. Despite losing three early wickets, Nepal managed to chase down the target of 118 with ease, thanks to the remarkable innings played by Gulsan Jha and Bhim Sharki. Jha scored an impressive 67 runs, while Sharki added 36 runs to the board.
Nepal storms into Asia Cup 2023
On the other hand, UAE struggled to put up a competitive total as they were all out for just 117 runs. Asif Khan was the only notable scorer for the team, as he managed to score 46 runs, but no other player provided significant support. Lalit Rajbanshi was the star bowler for Nepal, claiming four wickets, while Karan KC and Sandeep Lamichhane each took two. The match was not without interruptions, as rain caused a delay on Monday. Despite the heavy downpour, Nepal cricket fans waited eagerly with umbrellas to witness the game.
However, there are concerns about the Asia Cup 2023, which is scheduled to take place in Pakistan, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not given its approval to send the Indian team to Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed a hybrid model for the tournament, but the BCCI has not yet responded to the proposal. Some reports suggest that the BCCI is considering skipping the Asia Cup and holding a five-nation tournament instead.

The uncertainty surrounding the Asia Cup has caused concern among cricket fans, as the tournament is a significant event for cricket teams in the Asian region. The situation will likely become clearer in the coming days, as cricket boards and officials discuss and negotiate the tournament’s arrangements. Regardless, Nepal can celebrate its hard-fought victory over UAE, which has earned the team a well-deserved place in the Asia Cup 2023.
