Olympics: India’s third consecutive win in men’s hockey, India defeats Japan

The Indian men’s hockey team continues its winning journey in the Tokyo Olympics. Under the captaincy of Manpreet Singh, the team also won the last match of Group A. The Indian team, looking aggressive from the beginning, was ahead 2-1 till half time and finally won the match against hosts Japan 5-3. Harmanpreet Singh, Gurjant Singh, Simranjit Singh and Neelkanth Sharma scored for India.

This is the third consecutive win for the Indian team after losing the second match to Australia. Boxer Lovlina confirmed another medal for the country. She made it to the semi-finals of the women’s boxing 69kg weight category event. Lavnina defeated Chinese Taipei player Nien Chin Chen 4-1 in the quarterfinals. Whereas in women’s hockey, India beat Ireland 1-0. At the same time, Deepika Kumari lost in the women’s individual archery event in the quarterfinals. She was defeated by Korea’s An Sun 6-0. While PV Sindhu defeated Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the quarterfinals of Badminton Women’s Singles.

Indian star badminton player PV Sindhu defeated Akane Yamaguchi of Japan 21-13, 22-20 to make her mark in the semi-finals. With this, India’s medal in badminton has been confirmed.

Earlier Mirabai Chanu has given India its first medal on the second day of the Tokyo Olympics. Mirabai Chanu won this silver medal in the 49 kg women’s weightlifting category. Mirabai confirmed the medal by lifting a total of 202 kg in the snatch and clean and jerk rounds.
