Ashwin needs eight wickets in the first Test between India and Bangladesh for him to attain the milestone of 442 wickets from 86 Tests.

During Australia’s victory against the West Indies in the second Test, Nathan Lyon of Australia reached the milestone of 450 Test wickets in 112 matches. During the two-match series, Ashwin will try to surpass the Australian spinner. In addition to Kumble’s record, Ashwin has a chance to surpass Zaheer Khan as Bangladesh’s top wicket-taker. In seven games, the former pacer has taken 31 wickets. In order to break the record, Ashwin needs 16 more wickets in the series after taking 16 in just 4 games.
