RR vs SRH IPL 2023: Rajasthan Royals have defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by a margin of 72 runs in their opening clash. This big victory in the first match has given them a huge start in the points table. The match took place at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The home team won the toss and chose to bowl first but failed in their effort as Rajasthan Royals scored 203/5 in 20 overs. However, in response, SRH batters failed and scored just 131/8 runs in 20 overs. Interestingly, the last partnership for SRH was of 36 runs from just 14 balls.

SRH batters fall like a pack of cards

Coming to chase, Sunrisers Hyderabad had the most disastrous start possible. They lost two wickets in the first over itself to Trent Boult and failed to recover from thereon. Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi were dismissed on zero in the first over. Harry Brook scored 13, Washington Sundar scored 1 while Glenn Philips scored 8 runs. Opener Mayank Agarwal showed resistance and scored 27 off 23 balls.

Adil Rashid played a brief cameo and scored 18 runs. Umran Malik and Abdul Samad also snitched a brilliant partnership in the end as they scored 32* and 19* respectively. Opening batters failed miserably in the mammoth chase, resulting in defeat in the opening clash. Yuzvendra Chahal picked a four-wicket haul while Trent Boult grabbed two. Holder & Ashwin also scalped a wicket each.

Three fifties in RR’s inning

Earlier, the home team Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and decided to bowl first. However, it was soon clear that the decision did not turn out in their favour. The visiting team, RR, posted a mammoth score of 203 runs in 20 overs. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 54 off 37 balls while another opener Jos Buttler scored 54 off 22 balls (Seven boundaries and three maximums). Within the powerplay, the team scored 85/1.

Skipper Sanju Samson also scored a fifty, smashing 55 off 32 balls. In the end, Hetmyer scored 22 runs off 16 balls. Farooqi and Natrajan grabbed a couple of wickets while Umran Malik also picked a wicket.
