SL Vs Pak: Pakistan Defeats Sri Lanka To Register Their First Victory In 365 Days; Read Here

SL Vs Pak: Pakistan wrapped up the first match against Sri Lanka in just an hour’s play on the final day. A match that was like a tug of war for three days, became completely open by the end of the fourth day.

This victory means that Pakistan has taken a 1-0 lead over Sri Lanka in a two-match series. It also indicates their first test victory in 365 days. Their last victory came exactly a year ago in Galle only.

This victory embarks Pakistan’s perfect start to the WTC 2023-25 cycle. A tournament where they want to improve their record and aim for the ultimate finals. And if they continue on this path, they can surely reach there.

Aggressive Pakistan

For the first time in the past 4 years, Pakistan took an aggressive approach in a test match. In the last WTC cycle, Pakistan usually adopted a defensive approach. Their run-scoring average rarely crossed 4 in the last few years.

But this time, Pakistan had a new avatar. An aggressive approach where almost every batsman had a strike rate close to 100. Even when they needed only 83 runs on the last day, they were attacking the bowlers.

The winning six by Salman Ali Agha on his first delivery might be indicative of this new approach. We will see if Pakistan will continue with this approach, but it sure is nice to see some changes.

Saud Shakeel Show

It was undoubtedly Saud Shakeel who guided Pakistan toward victory. Pakistan lost 5 wickets for just 100 runs when Sri Lanka scored 312 runs in the first inning. A heroic double century lead by Saud Shakeel who remained not out saved Pakistan’s inning and gave them a humongous lead.

The lead was enough as Abrar and Nomam took 3 wickets each to stop Sri Lanka at just 29 runs. With just 133 runs to chase Pakistan was completely on the top.

Prabath Jayasuriya tried to fight back with 4 quick wickets but the small target was really small for Pakistan as they won the match by 4 wickets.
