Bhuvneshwar Kumar surpasses Dwayne Bravo

During the IPL 2023 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar surpassed Dwayne Bravo’s record of the second-most zero dismissals in IPL history. Kumar achieved this feat by dismissing Philip Salt for a golden duck after Delhi won the toss and chose to bat.

The right-arm swing bowler was able to get Salt out by inducing a late outswinger which caused the batsman to edge the ball to wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen, who took a comfortable catch. Salt attempted to push the ball away with an open bat face without getting in the line of the ball, resulting in a faint edge to their gloves of Klaasen.

After hearing a noise, umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal declared Salt out, leading to Bhuvneshwar Kumar claiming his 160th wicket in his 154th IPL match, surpassing Dwayne Bravo’s record of having the second-most zero dismissals in IPL history. Bravo has 183 wickets in 161 IPL matches from 2008 until 2022, and is currently the most successful bowler in IPL history. Meanwhile, retired pacer Lasith Malings tops the list for the most number of dismissals for ducks in the tournament with 36, while also claiming 170 wickets in 122 IPL games. India’s Umesh Yadav and New Zealand’s Trent Boult occupy the fourth spot with 22 zero dismissals each in the IPL.
