Virat Kohli: According to sources, Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has temporarily revoked his participation in T20 Internationals in order to concentrate on ODI and Test matches. However, it is likely that Kohli won’t play in the game’s shortest format before the IPL 2023 because he has apparently not notified the BCCI of his plans to play T20 Internationals once more.

Rohit and KL Rahul rested along with Kohli
Before returning for the ODI matches, Kohli plans to take a break from cricket. The forthcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka will also include KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma sitting out. Rohit’s absence will be filled by Hardik Pandya as the T20 captain.
The regular captain for team India is currently recovering from a thumb injury, and it is anticipated that he will be fully healthy before the ODI series, which is set to start on January 10.
A senior from BCCI anonymously said “Yes, Virat has informed he is unavailable for the T20s. He will return for the ODI series. It’s unclear at the moment whether he is taking a sabbatical from T20Is. But of course, he will be in plans for important series. As for Rohit, it looks tough and we don’t want to rush his return. Whether he is fit is a call that will be made in the due course. He is batting but can’t take the risk in feeding.”
BCCI focussing on T20 World Cup 2024
The selectors can concentrate on building a side that can represent India in the 2024 T20 World Cup thanks to Kohli’s decision to take a break from T20 Internationals. According to information, the selectors intend to give young players an opportunity, therefore experienced players like Shikhar Dhawan and Dinesh Karthik might not make the World Cup T20 squad.
