Supreme Court Denies Bail to Manish Sisodia

Hours after the Supreme Court denied the bail application of his former deputy, Manish Sisodia, who is the main culprit in the case, the Delhi Chief Minister received a summons from the Enforcement Department (ED), which is looking into the money laundering aspect of the case. A tentative money trail of ₹ 338 crore has been discovered, according to the judges.

Kejriwal’s First Encounter with ED, Previous CBI Interrogation

This is Kejriwal‘s first time being called in by the ED; he was questioned by the CBI in April about the case. AAP leader and Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “The Central government has only one objective – to destroy the Aam Aadmi Party at any cost. For this, they are leaving no stone unturned, including creating a fake case. The idea is to send Arvind Kejriwal to jail and destroy the Aam Aadmi Party.”

AAP Leader Bharadwaj’s Prediction of Kejriwal’s Custody

Tuesday, Bharadwaj stated in an exclusive interview with NDTV that Kejriwal would be taken into custody by the government agency. He replied, “As of right now, I don’t know and I don’t think there’s any discussion about it,” in response to the question of whether the party had a Plan B ready in case that occurred. Our leader is Kejriwal, and we will follow his lead.”

Delhi Minister Atishi’s Claims

Delhi Minister Atishi has also made claims regarding the chief minister’s likely arrest, stating that he would be placed under arrest following the interrogation. She claimed that this would occur because he had spoken out against the BJP, not because the agency had any proof against him. The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), of which the AAP is a member, has denounced the summons and claimed it is more evidence of their position that the BJP-led government is abusing the central agencies.

Mamata Banerjee Speaks Out

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal and the leader of the Trinamool Congress, addressed the matter on Wednesday. “Before next year’s elections, they (the BJP) are trying to gag the voice of all opposition parties,” Banerjee stated. “They are planning to arrest all opposition leaders before polls so they can vote for themselves in an empty country… they are hatching a conspiracy,” she said.
