The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has written to the Election Commission, urging the reinstatement of Punjab Police security for its National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. In a strongly worded statement, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed concerns about the reliability of Delhi Police, which operates under the jurisdiction of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Allegations of Threats and Intimidation

Bhagwant Mann alleged that AAP leaders are being continually threatened to disrupt their election campaigns and accused Delhi Police of remaining a "silent spectator" during such incidents. He emphasized that the threats are politically motivated and designed to hinder the party's outreach efforts.

"We have no faith in Delhi Police because they are working under Amit Shah's directions. Their inaction amidst ongoing threats confirms our concerns. Therefore, we have requested the Election Commission to restore Arvind Kejriwal's security under Punjab Police," Mann stated.

Security Concerns Amid Election Campaign

With the ongoing political climate heating up, AAP has claimed that their leadership, particularly Arvind Kejriwal, faces serious security risks. The party argues that Punjab Police is better equipped and more trustworthy in providing adequate protection to its leaders, especially during the high-stakes election campaign.

The appeal to the Election Commission comes as AAP intensifies its outreach efforts, positioning itself as a key player in the upcoming elections. The request underscores the party's concerns over political interference and the safety of its leaders in Delhi.

Election Commission's Role

The Election Commission is yet to respond to AAP's request, but the matter has reignited debates over the politicization of law enforcement agencies and the role of security in ensuring a fair and safe electoral process.

The political friction is expected to escalate as AAP continues to push for changes in the security arrangements for its leadership, bringing attention to the broader issue of impartial governance during election seasons.
