CJP Volunteer’s Father Death: Abdul Hafiz’s father has died two days after he was allegedly attacked at their home in Bankura’s Karisunda area, following his son’s participation in the CJP’s nationwide “School Thik Karo” campaign to inspect government school infrastructure.

What Sparked the Attack
Hafiz took part in the audit at his local government school on August 13, filming its condition with permission. The CJP alleges armed men identified as local BJP workers later forced their way into his residence, demanding he record a video apologising and claiming he had acted under outside influence. When he refused, the group allegedly assaulted him and his family. Hafiz reportedly suffered a serious neck injury, while his father sustained severe blunt-force trauma to the head. His father succumbed to those injuries at a Bankura government hospital on August 15.
CJP Reacts
CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said:
“His father has died at the hands of goons who allegedly belong to the BJP. What was his crime? That he planned on conducting a social audit of his local government school. Abdul, the entire CJP family is with you.”
Co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka accused West Bengal Police of shielding the accused, while the party alleged no medico-legal case or FIR was filed after the initial assault.
Investigation and Next Steps
CJP Volunteer’s Father Death: Bankura police say suspects have been detained, with Hafiz’s mother expected to file a formal complaint. CJP has demanded an impartial probe into the assault, the death, and the alleged inaction by Indas police station, and confirmed a National Working Committee delegation will visit Bengal to meet the family.
With CJP already vocal on multiple Bengal flashpoints this month, pressure is building for street-level mobilisation unless swift arrests follow.
