The Delhi Metro network is set to expand significantly with the approval of the Rithala–Narela–Kundli Metro corridor. This development is a significant step forward for the National Capital Region (NCR), promising better connectivity and faster commutes for thousands of daily passengers.

New Metro Line Approved

The Union Cabinet has approved the construction of a 26.46-kilometre corridor from Rithala to Nathupur (Kundli) as part of Phase IV of the Delhi Metro expansion. This new line will feature 21 elevated stations, connecting areas such as Rithala, Rohini, Bawana, and Narela, and extending into Haryana near Kundli and Nathupur. The project is expected to improve travel convenience across these regions significantly.

Land Hurdle Cleared

One of the main challenges for this project was securing land approval to construct the elevated track between Rithala and Rohini Sector 25. Recently, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi approved the land allotment from the Delhi Jal Board to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, allowing construction to proceed without further delays. A portion of the land has been permanently leased to the metro, and additional land has been temporarily allocated for construction. This ensures that the project can move forward efficiently.

Benefits for Commuters

  • Enhanced Connectivity: Links Delhi, Ghaziabad (UP), and Kundli/Nathupur (Haryana).
  • Time-Saving Travel: Offers a faster alternative to road transport for daily commuters.
  • Reduced Traffic and Pollution: Encourages the use of public transportation, easing road congestion.
  • Reliable Metro Access: Provides a safe and comfortable travel option for thousands of passengers.

A Step Towards NCR Development

The Rithala–Narela–Kundli metro corridor will connect northwest Delhi to Haryana, boosting development, accessibility, and opportunities for commuters, and is set to become a key part of Delhi’s transport network.
