Delhi News: At Gokulpuri Metro Station on the Pink Line in northeast Delhi, a portion of the boundary wall collapsed on Thursday, resulting in one fatality. Around 11:00 AM, there was an incident, and a few persons suffered minor injuries. A 53-year-old man has been identified as the deceased. The relatives of the deceased will receive compensation of Rs 15 lakh, according to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Also, the DMRC declared that individuals with severe injuries would receive Rs 2.5 lakh, while those with slight injuries would receive Rs 50,000. The victim was buried behind the wreckage, according to the report by ANI, which cited the Delhi Fire Service. This called for an immediate rescue effort.
Metro Line Collapse at Gokulpuri Station
Delhi Fire Service officials said, “a side slab of the running metro line at Gokulpuri metro station collapsed today. One person was injured in the incident. He was rushed to a nearby hospital.” The trapped victim, who was reportedly riding a scooter at the time of the fall, was successfully rescued thanks to quick action taken by police and members of the public. The sufferer received emergency medical attention and was taken to GTB Hospital right away.
Debris Removal Efforts
The same article states that efforts are being made to remove the debris from the street. The task has been aided by the deployment of excavators. There were also employees from Delhi Metro and local police officers on the scene. The DCP went on to state that a case related to the occurrence has been filed under the applicable provisions.
Due to the fall, the transporters also suspended two of their officials. “Two DMRC officials, a manager and a junior engineer from the civil department, have been immediately suspended,” as statement by the DMRC read.
