Flight and Train Delays Amidst Dense Delhi Fog

The Delhi fog significantly reduced visibility at the capital's airport, leading to multiple flight cancellations and delays. Seven flights were cancelled, and 184 others were delayed as airlines struggled to operate under challenging conditions. Passengers were urged to stay updated about their flight status. According to the Delhi Airport, while landings and take-offs continued, flights not meeting the Category III Instrument Landing System (CAT III) standards were more likely to experience delays. Train services were also heavily impacted, with 26 trains running late and six train schedules altered because of the Delhi fog.

Traffic Woes in Delhi NCR Due to Dense Fog

The Delhi fog also wreaked havoc on road traffic, slowing down commutes across Delhi and other cities in the National Capital Region (NCR). The dense fog made it nearly impossible for drivers to see clearly, causing significant delays and making travel dangerous. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had already issued an orange alert for dense to very dense fog in the area, highlighting the weather's potential impact on transportation.

IMD Forecasts More Dense Delhi Fog and Cold Weather

The IMD warned that the Delhi fog would persist throughout the day, with predictions of more fog in the evening and night. The department also forecasted a generally overcast sky and light rain later in the day, which could worsen the already difficult travel conditions. The minimum temperature was expected to drop to 9°C, while the maximum would reach around 19°C. The air quality in Delhi remained in the "poor" category, further complicating the weather situation for residents.

As dense fog continues to affect the capital, residents and travelers are urged to take extra precautions while moving around the city. The Delhi fog is expected to persist, making it crucial to stay updated on travel schedules and weather conditions.
