Five UP Cops suspended After Gangster-Politician Atiq Ahmed’s Murder

Atiq Ahmed: On Wednesday, five Prayagraj police personnel were placed on administrative leave in connection with the killings of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf. The Shahganj Police Station served as the officers’ posting. This police station was in charge of the MLN Medical College, where the brothers were shot.

Transfer of the Assistant Commissioner of Police

On April 16 in Prayagraj, Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf—both suspects in the murder of Umesh Pal—were murdered by three individuals posing as journalists. Numerous police officials and journalists who had come to interrogate Atiq and his brother were present when the incident occurred. The three shooters, Lavlesh Tiwari, 22, of Banda, and Sunny Singh, 23, of Hamirpur, as well as Arun Maurya, 18, of Kasganj, were placed on four-day police remand till April 23 on Wednesday. After the murder of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf on Tuesday, the Uttar Pradesh government took strong action by ordering the transfer of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) who was there when the two brothers were shot to death on Saturday.

Police officers were suspended

On the same day that Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, presided over a meeting to track down Atiq’s wife Shaista Parveen and the other suspect in the murder of Umesh Pal, Guddu Muslim, the police officers were suspended and placed in police custody. One of the ten people included in the FIR for the murder of Umesh Pal is Guddu Muslim. Guddu Muslim is one of the four people on the run, and six of them have been dead.

Karnataka was Guddu Muslim’s last known location

Amitabh Yash, the chief of the STF for the Uttar Pradesh Police, Special DG Prashant Kumar, and other police officers also participated in the video conference meeting. The officials talked on how to find Shaista and Guddu Muslim swiftly. More than 20 persons have been named by the police as potential Shaista Parveen supporters so far. Karnataka was Guddu Muslim’s last known location.
