‘Gunda raj, mafia raj, jungle raj, parivarwaad’ in UP thing of the past: CM Yogi

Uttar Pradesh, once infamous for mafia, is now famous for mahotsav as state continues to see massive shift in terms of development, said chief minister Yogi Adityanath. He was speaking at a press conference as he marked six years of his government in the state.

Gundaraj in UP now thing of the past

“Yeh jo pehchaan UP ko di gayi thi – gunda raj, mafia raj, jungle raj, parivarwaad yeh share shard ab ate ke shabd ban Gaye hain (funda raj, mafia raj, jungle raj, nepotism… These identities given to UP are now a thing of the past),” said the chief minister. 

The UP CM said that parties which run the state previously thrived on caste and religion based politics, indulged in corrupt politics as the promoted their family members over common people. 

Listing the major investment ventures that the state has managed to bag, CM Yogi said that from Rs 4 lakh crore worth investments in 2018, the government managed to rise an investment of Rs 35 lakh crore during the Global Investors Summit organised in February 2023. He added that the state showed nine-fold growth trajectory which hasn’t been witnessed by any other state in the country.

241 regulatory compliance hurdles have been removed to speed up industrial growth in the state, as per a senior official.  

Talking about Varnasi-Halida waterway (West Bengal), the chief minister said, “For the first time UP has directed danced to port.” The state has gone from two operation airports to nine in just six year, he said, adding, network of expressways have already improved connectivity to backward parts of Bundelkhand and Purvanchal. There is complete transparency in the government when it comes to distribute the benefits of flagship central scheme, he said. 

The CM also said that 175 notorious criminals have been gunned down in six year, while their properties worth Rs 2,819 crore has been attached.
