Weather Update March 18 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that thunderstorms and light rain are likely over many regions in Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, North Punjab, Ladakh, Karnataka, Kerala, South Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Odisha, Telangana, West Bengal and and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds are likely to hit Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida and Faridabad on March 18 late night and early March 19 morning. Short bursts of heavy rain along with violent thunderstorms are expected in many parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Many parts of Rajasthan are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, scattered rain and dust storms. Several parts of Marathwada, South Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, South Odisha, South Chhattisgarh, South Interior Karnataka and Telangana may witness isolated incidents of thunderstorms and scattered rain.
Northeastern States
Heavy to very heavy precipitation is likely in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura. Many parts in Assam and Mizoram may also experience hailstorms. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Meghalaya, Sikkim and lower Assam are likely to be the worst hit after being severely impacted by the influence of active weather systems.
Severe weather activity is likely to be triggered between March 18 and March 21 due to pre-monsoon circulation and the discontinuation of north-south winds over South Peninsula’s interior parts.
Uttarakhand & Jammu & Kashmir Weather Update
Baramulla, Rishikesh, Haldwani, Rudrapur, Roorkee, Sopore, Kathua, Udhampur, Kupwara, Pulwama, Anantnag and Pithoragarh may experience heavy snowfall and rainfall, especially during early morning or late evening hours.

Ujjain, Sagar, Rewa, Satna, Ratlam, Khandwa, Morena, Sehore, Betul, Khargone, Shivpuri, Burhanpur, Singrauli. Bhopal, Gwalior and Betul may witness rainfall.
Punjab & Haryana Weather Update
Sonipat, Jalandhar, Patiala, Chandigarh, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ambala, Mohali, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Hisar, Rohtak and Panipat may experience rainfall and gusty winds.
