Hemant Soren Mukhyamantri Sarathi Yojana Aims to Boost Skill Development and Employment in Jharkhand

Under the scheme details, male candidates receive ₹1,000 per month, while women, persons with disabilities and transgender candidates receive ₹1,500 per month.

The Jharkhand government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, is implementing the Mukhyamantri Sarathi Yojana to provide skill development and employment-related support to unemployed youth across the state. Launched in 2022, the scheme aims to equip young people with practical and technical skills through free vocational training and improve their opportunities for employment.

The initiative focuses on helping young people become more self-reliant by providing access to skill-based courses in different sectors. It is intended to support unemployed youth, including women and persons with disabilities, by making professional training more accessible.

Free Skill Training for Eligible Youth: Hemant Soren

Under the scheme, eligible candidates are provided free skill development training through the Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society. The programme operates through four components: Saksham Jharkhand Skill Development Scheme, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Kaushal Kendra, Employability Excellence with College Education (EXCEL) and Block Level Institute for Rural Skill Acquisition (BIRSA).

According to the scheme details, applicants generally need to be permanent residents of Jharkhand, aged between 18 and 35 years, with at least a Class 5 education. For the BIRSA programme, the maximum age limit for applicants from SC, ST and OBC categories is stated to be 50 years.

Monthly Allowance and Travel Assistance

The scheme also provides financial assistance to eligible trainees. Candidates attending non-residential training centres can receive a monthly travel allowance of ₹1,000 to help cover commuting expenses.

Additionally, trainees who do not secure employment within three months of completing their training are eligible for an employment incentive allowance for up to one year. Under the scheme details, male candidates receive ₹1,000 per month, while women, persons with disabilities and transgender candidates receive ₹1,500 per month.
